Sorry but I don't understand how to get in touch with my opponent. Could you please clarify?

In this forum, at the top of the page is a dropdown menu / link "My Messages", hover over that and click on "send a message" and use that to send a PM to your opponent.

Now that my opponent and I are in contact...once we decide on a time, how do we set up the actual table?

Is there a link to a step-by-step process for doing this, turning off spectator-viewing-hands options, etc.?

Step1: go to your options (tab on the top of your screen), scroll down and the last option should be: "spectators can see my hands". You can turn that off.

Step2: Go to the friends tab, type in your opponent's name.

Step3: Tell them to open a table. You go to your matching tab where you can see your friends/followed people's activity. For example "Opponent X: At table [Join]". You click the Join button. You will join as spectator, click "play" in the bottom left to become a player.

Step4: The host goes to advanced options (bottom left again), turns off "players can see spectator chat" and makes it a rated game if you wish to do so. There is also a "player order" button which you can use to make sure each of you starts three games.

Step5: you both click "ready" (bottom left corner again)

Thanks.  I just finished my first match, and my partner and I agreed that after one game, either one of us would just resign as many times as needed for the random selection of the other person to go first.  That worked well...in 5 games, I think we only needed one or two resigns.

There is an option to select who is first player.
