Title: Ability to save game setup, or repeat game with bots
Post by: giraffe_sense on 01 May 2018, 08:01:26 AM
Hi,

The ability to save a game setup, or endlessly repeat a game with bots, would be very valuable. This would allow me to experiment with different strategies for the same set of cards. That's a great way to improve.

Thanks,
giraffe_sense

Hallo giraffe_sense,

thanks for making suggestions. While it may take a while to incorporate them, there is a half-manual way to do the repeating game with the same card setup.

First, you have to write down the 10 Kingdom cards of the game you want to repeat (can be on paper, but better would be in some text editor on your PC.

Then, you can create a manual game by going to the "My Table" tab, click on "Create Table", then "Select Kingdom Cards". Here you can select the cards by clicking on them, *but* you can also enter a comma separated list of card names in the text box (see attached picture). This way, you can paste the prepared list of cards into the text box at once!

If you start the game now, it will have the Kingdom you specify. Even better, once you've finished the game and are at the end-of-game screen, if you click "Ready", it will again be the same Kingdom setup, so you can repeat the same Kingdom and refine your strategies for as long as you want.

I second these suggestions. I was playing with a friend today and the randomized setup gave us a really interesting kingdom. We wanted to replay it, but had to manually enter everything.

It would be great to have:

Manually specifying a game from the "Select Kingdom Cards" is handy, but in the interim it would be super-nice if the final results window also listed out all the cards so that it would be easy to copy-paste them into the selection box in the picture.

It's always baffled me that the final game window never said what cards were in the kingdom, only what cards players had in their decks at the end.  ???

I am a New player (though not to the board game).  I am now subscribed as gold.

"The ability to save kingdoms to a favorites list with naming."

I am amazed this option doesn't exist.  Obviously through the game # ID system, it is easily implemented.  Why not?  I also would like to SHARE interesting Kingdoms with other people.  The most interesting kingdoms are those designed (by a person) to have cool card interactions.

My opinion is that computer generated card sets are just plain weird-to-unplayable sometimes.  The multiple game groups I play with universally avoid the randomizers for this reason.  Yes, I am sure your uber-leet game group thinks that randomizers are the be-all-and-end-all of this game.  Other people have differing opinions kk?

This would lead to people posting thoughtful kingdom setups on this forum and letting people know "hey!  our group really loved this kingdom setup last night.  If you would like to see how card XXX interacts with card YYY, you should check it out, I saved it as KingdomCoolerThanCool under my userid TommyTank7"

Before you troll me because this option already exists, let me state for the record that I looked for a feature like this and could not find it on the interface or in the instructions or the FAQ.  I really tried.

The possibility to save, replay and maybe share Kingdoms would certainly be nice to have. For the sharing part, the following is a solution that requires nothing more than text data.

When you enter the kingdom selection, you can select your cards via Mouse, or you can type in the card name. If you copy and paste a comma separated list of card names (including landscapes), you can fill in the card slots in one go.
