I noticed that playing Priest with the Sewer project complete allows you to trigger a 2nd trash from hand but you dont get the +2 coin from the 2nd trash. Is this the intentional timing interaction of the Priest card?

indeed it is correct. But it's confusing so many people that I should probably add a log line when you play with these two.
