Title: Question re Fleet event and Outpost
Post by: Krispy on 27 July 2020, 04:28:21 PM
I was playing a two player colonies game.  My opponent and I both had markers on the Fleet event.

I grabbed the last Colony to trigger the final Fleet round.
My opponent bought a Province and played an Outpost.
My opponent bought a second Province.
I bought a Province and played an Outpost.
I was expecting my Outpost to give me another turn, but the game ended immediately.

Should I have gotten my Outpost turn like my opponent?, or am I missing something?

Game id is #51528458, if anyone know how to get logs?

The game ended corectly. After your Fleet turn, the game is over, and nothing can change that.

You "had your chance" to play an Outpost during your "pre-final" turn when you bought the last Colony. Normally (no Fleet) that wouldn't work, as the game is over after that turn. With Fleet it works, you could have an extra turn before the Fleet round begins.

On your "final" turn (from Fleet), this again doesn't work.

But why did my opponent get their Fleet turn including an extra Outpost turn.

Should we not have experienced the same behaviour?

I see this in the dominion wiki.

"Other extra turns, such as from Outpost (in Seaside) can happen in-between those turns; however after the last extra turn due to Fleet, no other extra turns can happen (since e.g. Outpost does not keep the game going after it ends)."

As you said previously, it sounds like this is expected behaviour, although I'm not sure I understand why one player gets the benefit of playing an Outpost and getting an extra turn, when the 'final turn' player does not.  :/

Both of you got one extra opportunity to play an Outpost, so this is "fair" in that regard.

You got the extra opportunity in the turn you bought the final Colony (the turn that would have been the last if not for Fleet).

Your opponent got the extra opportunity in their Fleet turn.

As you described it, you didn't use your opportunity (likely because you did not have the Outpost in hand), while your opponent did.
