Title: Teacher Question
Post by: theWalrus on 23 July 2021, 05:34:29 PM
So I recently played a game with both of the traveller piles: Page and Peasant. However ,there was a relative dearth of good piles for assigning the tokens to once Teacher was reached (and, for that matter, not really any cards that would benefit from the Warrior).

Anyway, as a result, I assigned my +1 card token to the Page pile, and used a second peasant to purchases a crapton of pages, migrating some of them up the tree and leaving some of them lower. So I had 3-4 Pages, 4 Treasure Hunters, a couple of Warriors, etc.

I was surprised to see that the +1 card bonus was only applying to the Page cards, not all of the cards in the Page pile. My understanding was that the Adventure tokens were supposed to apply to all cards in a given pile, even if the pile contains multiple different action cards.

Is this a bug, or am I misunderstanding how these tokens work?

You are assigning the term "pile" to the wrong set of cards. There is one Page pile (which is in the Supply), one Treasure Hunter pile (not in the Supply), one Warrior pile, one Hero pile and one Champion pile (all since Treasure Hunter not in the Supply). It's totally analogous for the Peasant to Teacher Traveller line.

This is not a giant split pile. So you can only place the Teacher token on the Page pile (as it has to go on a Supply pile), and it only affects card of that pile, not Treasure Hunters etc.
