I only want to play with platinums... How can I make this setting permanent when searching for games?

You can't, when "searching for games" means you are using the automatch to find opponents automatically. You can make your own table, choose settings you want and then hope somebody joins your table, which may or may not happen.
The idea was to have as little restrictions as possible in the automatch, to get tolerable waiting times.
