General Discussion / New Release - one tiny fix
01 April 2017, 06:46:19 PM
First I have to say that I really like the direction things are going overall. Unlike those who complained about the recent downtime, I have to say that overall the stability of the game has been great for me, way better than MF (or my cable TV provider :P), so great job. There is just one small but significant thing in the new Matching Tab that should be changed however: you have the 2 boxes labelled "Find a Game" and "Find a Practice Game". The wording "Find a Practice Game" is not the best. I don't know if you have any data on what percentage of all games played involve bots, but having looked at the table listings I'm sure it's significant. Some people like the advantages of playing bots - no worries about trolls, or about bothering anyone by playing slow, being able to come and go as you please, etc. To many, those are "real" games. To call them just "practice" games carries the connotation that they're not "real", that their proper use is only to prepare one to play "real" games. While you and those like you may see it that way, many do not. No worries, however, the fix is trivially easy: simply changing "Find a Practice Game" to "Find an Unrated Game" would solve this issue. I hope you will consider this for your next release.

Had 2 buys/$14. Bought Dominate, then a Copper to get the 2 Labyrinth points - but I didn't get them. Dominate card text starts with "Gain a Province..." so I gained a Province and a Copper.

R gained a silver via Delve. The next turn I played a Treasure Hunter and some treasure and bought a Sir Bailey. I should have also gained a Silver "per card the player to your right gained on their last turn". (I looked at w.ds to verify this) Log excerpt below: (note: the player to my left gained nothing his previous turn, but that shouldn't matter)

Turn 4 - Revenge Witch
R plays a Potion
and 3 Coppers.
R buys a Delve.
R gains a Silver.
R shuffles their deck.
R draws 5 cards.

Turn 5 - ffejselur
f plays a Treasure Hunter.
f plays a Silver and 3 Coppers.
f buys and gains a Sir Bailey.
f returns a Treasure Hunter.
f receives a Warrior.
f draws 2 Coppers, a Silver and 2 Estates.

Joining game #494686 on frankfurt.

Game Log Issues / Shuffling
14 January 2017, 06:11:54 PM
IRL when you have, say, 2 cards in your deck at the end of your turn, you'd (normally) be able to pick up and see those 2 cards before you shuffle and draw 3 more. The current log doesn't show this (although I believe MF did, right?), it just shows "x shuffles their deck" then "x draws ...(5 cards)". While not a huge deal, the way that mimics play IRL (and thus is more technically correct, right?) can be helpful for deck tracking (like, "I'd better count my treasures this time through the deck to see how I can increase my Palace points"). This may become a moot point once better animations are implemented -- although I guess the animations could make the same mistake of just throwing out 5 cards instead of separating those before and after the shuffle. Just wondering if this was/is being considered.

Feature Requests / 3 Player Matching
10 January 2017, 06:59:52 AM
One feature that I would love to see implemented is 3 (or more) player matching. Right now Quick Match, Good Match and Bot Match all assume a 2 player game. In the MF global chat window it sure seemed like the requests for people to join a 3 player game outnumbered those for a 2 player game by a huge margin. Both IRL and OL I've personally found the 3 (or even 4) player game more interesting than the 2 player game. (I'd be fascinated to see a poll of the community on how others feel about this.) It would be awesome if a 2nd row of buttons could be added so that there would be one row for 2 player Quick Match, Good Match, and Bot Match, then a row beneath it for 3 player Quick Match, Good Match, and Bot Match.

AI bugs / Re: Known Bot Issues

One more clearly stupid play is bot seems to always discard an action with Envoy if it can even when Envoy uses up the last action so action cards are dead cards.

Support / Sticky Thread
03 January 2017, 03:37:52 PM
Just an idea: it might save you time reading and others' time writing lots of posts if there were a sticky thread at the top of this section (like "Supported Systems & Browsers") that would explain the email situation (like "Having Connection Problems? Look Here"). For the sake of anyone still having problems, here's what worked for me: if you're willing to have a new username, I went to dominion.games and signed up with a new username and password. Unfortunately, that takes you to a screen that says "Signing you up!" which I assumed would go away once the process was complete and let you into the game so I left it there for a long time. Eventually I closed the window then went right back to dominion.games and it let me in. However, I couldn't host a game because I'd get a window saying you can't host until your email is confirmed. To solve this, go to the Account button, retype in your email address, hit the Confirm button, and you should get a window saying an email has been sent to confirm your email address. Check your email and you should soon be good to go.

If you're married to your old username, my group is 2 for 4 at getting the welcome email finally about 3 hours ago so the wait may soon be over.

Both in games 28564 on tokyo and 28986 on oregon Lord Rat plays Moat on turns after attacks were played (like Militia) but didn't reveal Moat to negate the attack. Also in both games it bought the last Province when so far behind it still lost (but with losing not a mathematical certainty).
