Support / how to change back to English???!!!!
11 August 2023, 09:26:16 PM
I woke up today, logged in, and discovered that Dominion is now in (I believe) Korean!  Sadly, I read and understand only English.  Zero idea how this happened.  I can't see any way to correct this bug. I used my phone's translation programme, but I can't see anything that says something helpful like "change language" or the like.  So, for now; obviously, the game is no longer playable for me.

Can someone walk me through the steps to change Korean to English?  Ideally, this will include screenshots of each step (in Korean), with arrows or circles showing where I should click at each step.

This is what I can see now. (Only the Dominion site is in Korean ... all other websites are behaving normally for me.)

Support / What happened to the old support site?
01 August 2023, 01:19:26 AM
There was about a week or when (after clicking on the link in the lower-right corner of the Login page) I got only an error message.  Several days ago, the link was fixed, but now we are taken here.  Was the old site simply abandoned?

Support / unable to buy new membership
18 April 2023, 02:52:48 AM
I've been playing, and paying, for several years.  Subscription ran out today, so went to Store to buy a new one.  But there's a bug in the site (well, in the Mollie payment site that we're automatically directed to).  Now it requires 2-step authentication, and there seems to be a bug.  My credit card (which is on file with Shuffle and has been used for years and years with no problems) is now declined each time.  So, I'm unable to give you money...which is a pretty big problem for websites who like receiving money.  LOL

What do you suggest I do?

AI bugs / Is Horse Trader working correctly?
05 March 2023, 12:12:01 AM
Game: 118 437 152

Kingdom has Horse Trader, and the attack card Margrave.

Turn 10.  Lord Rat plays Margrave, while I have Horse Trader in hand.  But, I'm given no opportunity to use its defensive ability.  I used Undo to try all 3 possibilities.  (ie, 1. Tried discarding 3 cards, which included the HT.  Nope.  2. Tried discarding 3 other cards.  Nope.  3.  Looked all over the screen for some hidden button to click on, to activate the HT defense.  Nope).

Is this a known bug?  Is it an actual bug, or am I doing something wrong, somehow?

General Discussion / can't log in today
16 February 2023, 06:38:03 AM
Just get a never-ending "Loading Game" message.  Usual fixes don't work this time.
-Hitting Refresh button on browser.
-Kick
-Kick and resign

Any other suggestions?
(Usual browser is Firefox.  Also tried using Chrome and Opera.  Same problem.)

Other Bugs / Young Witch, but no Bane???
06 October 2022, 11:33:44 AM
It was my understanding that any game that has Young Witch will have a Bane card somewhere in the kingdom.  Is that accurate?

Game:  109172789

Am I just overlooking the Bane card?  (It's 2:30 am, my time, right now, and I've just finished up 14 hours of work, so it's certainly possible that I am just missing something obvious.)

AI bugs / Is Death Card + Enhance working properly?
30 August 2022, 09:01:24 PM
Game: 107137777, Tokyo.  Turn 5

Game had Death Card, and Enhance.  (and Villa, as well, in the kingdom)

I bought a Death Card, specifically to combine with Enhance.

DC: "You MAY trash this (or Action still in hand) for +5 coins."
Enhance: "You MAY trash a non-Victory card.  Get a card up to +2 more in value."

On Turn 5, I had my chance.  Used Enhance to trash Death Card.  I'd obviously get a replacement card up to 6 in value.  And I did get this.  BUT...according to the wording on Death Card, I should also have received +5.  Now, normally at this stage of the game, getting +5 would be meaningless (since I had already used my Buy for this turn).  But in a game with Villa, I should have been able to gain Villa from Enhance--which gets me back to my Action stage, while also giving me that +5.  I did try this, but never could get the 5 coins promised by the wording of Death Card...so I used Undo and used Enhance to instead get a Margrave. [And, of course, in any game that allows for plus-Buys, this combo could be very useful for a player who had accumulated additional buys in her or his turn.]

Nothing in the DC wording suggests that this combo would not work.  Nothing about the DC card needing to be trashed during one's Action phase, for example.

Is this a bug?  Or is it actually expected behavior?

The wording is very confusing.  Could be helped quite a bit, by correcting the tense, at least.  Currently, it's...
"The Third Time you gain an Action this turn,. . . [other] players gain a curse."

But Cauldron, of course, is a Treasure, and this means that it is played *after* the action phase has ended.  The way the card is worded, it seems to suggest that it does not matter at all how many action cards you were able to gain during your action phase (Remodel, Transmogrify, Expand, etc etc) . . . to give out a curse, you must gain 3 (more?) actions after playing this Cauldron.

Maybe change the language to: "If 3+ action cards were gained on this turn, each other player gains 1 curse for each Cauldron you played this turn."?  There is no reason, as far as I can tell, to use "action" rather than "action cards" here, to avoid at least this bit of confusion.

When this card came up in a game with friends, we were very confused.  Several of us thought the card was saying, "If you got 3 extra actions this turn (via playing villages), then--during Buy--curses would be given out if Cauldron was played."  Obviously, this turned out not to be the correct interpretation.

Game: 102833825

Kingdom had the Peasant-Teacher pile.  I had Teacher already played, and on my next turn I chose the "Plus Card" option and selected the Peasant (etc) pile.  But, when I later played my Soldier or Fugitive or Discipline cards, I did not get the expected +card bonus.

The text of Teacher is pretty straightforward: "...When you play a card from that pile..."  In the DominionStrategy Wiki for Teacher, nothing mentions that only the topmost card in a pile is considered to be from that pile.  This current implementation would obviously affect any Kingdom with Knights, as well as all other types of split piles.

Is this the intended play, or, is this a bug?  (I don't particularly care; if it's actually working as intended, it's just a matter of adjusting strategy in future games.)

Game 102390343

I think this is actually a common event, and I recall games where it's happened with Charm + other cards.  (And maybe with 2 completely different non-Charm cards as well.)

I'm in my Buy stage, and putting my treasures out, and I come to Charm. (War Chest is still in my hand at this point.)  If I play Charm, and then pick the coins-plus-buy or the get-matching-cards options . . . I cannot add more of my treasure into the pile.  Any treasure still in my hand [e.g., War Chest, here] is "wasted."  But nothing in the text of Charm suggests that this will happen.

I mean, if I choose the "get equal value cards" option, then I understand, since I have sorta forced the online game to the card-buying phase of Buy.  But with the first option; all I have done is said to the game, "Add 2 coins to the treasure I've already put in, and add one more buy to my benefits."  In our IRL games, people routinely have been playing treasures after playing Charm.  Have we been actually breaking the rules all this time?

Is there something in the actually official rules that addresses/explains this?  Or is this result merely due to how the online game was programmed to function?

From my limited experience today; seems that LR always selects Estate (!?!?!???) as the card.  This is, obviously, dumb, as Estates are--absent edge cases--the LAST card that should be picked.  It would take only 5 minutes to--at the very least--change the programming so that LR always selected Duchy as the card.  That would make a million times more sense than selecting Estate.

It is *such* a stupid AI move than it already motivates me to either never buy War Chest in 'bot games, or to just resign...it's not the slightest bit fun to play a game where LR is sabotaging itself to such a large degree.

I would think that, to actually program this card to make the "correct" decision, would be incredibly difficult...would totally depend on which other 5-value cards are in the game, what stage of the game War Chest is being played, the synergy of the various 5 cards to the other kingdom cards, etc..  But, as I wrote before--at the very least, make the game pick a non-idiotic card like Duchy, and never have it pick Estate.

I see today the announcement that GS and Embargo are being cast aside (other than when one specifically hand-picks them, that is).  Out of curiosity; why was that done?  Negative feedback from us players?  Too many bugs?  Some other reason???

Neither card is/was particularly interesting, so no big deal.  But I'm always interested in why later changes are (or are not) implemented.

AI bugs / Scepter + new Allies action cards?
10 March 2022, 06:45:12 AM
Game: 97099970, Turn 15

I had played the action card Contract earlier this turn.  Then, later, I played Scepter.  This should allow me to play any action card that was still in play, right?  Which, I think, should include Contract.  (This Contract card that has been played does appear to be highlighted.  But clicking on it did nothing.)

Do not yet know if Scepter will refuse to play all Allies cards, or if this is peculiar to Contracts only.

Card Bugs / Is Capital City working properly?
09 March 2022, 10:27:49 PM
Game: 97073107

As I read this card, I should always have 2 options (assuming that I have at least $2 available in this hand, and that I have at least 2 unused/unplayed cards in this hand)
a.  Discard in exchange for gaining $2.
b.  Pay $2 in exchange for getting 2 more cards.

But, weirdly, I sometimes am not given both options.  Sometimes I am given only the option of discarding.  Sometimes, I am given only this option, but with a second button for "Don't [do this]."  And sometimes I am correctly given buttons for both A and B options.  (I forgot to take a screenshot of this...when it's working properly.).  I played Cap. City many times in this practice game, and I simply cannot figure out why it sometimes does allow for doing "pay money for 2 more cards" and sometimes does not.  I did try checking out the log as well, to see if we'd somehow gone back to the old bad system of needing to click on hotlinks in the log to activate something.  Nope.

Bug?  Something I'm missing or misunderstanding???

I saw, in a different thread, the explanation on how to get one or more cards from Allies into games...a great way to get used to the new cards that are (I guess) currently in Beta.  But, as I create a typical game with Lord Rat, I do not see how to force each game to have an Allies card.  I did go into the Kingdom section and then made sure that Allies was selected/highlighted.  But this just enables these cards, I think--it does not "force" them.  The table that was randomly created did not have any Allies card.  I immediately resigned and created a new table.  No luck again.  Nor for the next 10 times.  Frustrating and a total waste of time.

In the past, with new kingdoms, there was a prominent checkbox.  And if you ticked it; it would force every game to give at least one such new card.  I gather that there is still this checkbox, but it's pretty well-hidden from me.

Can someone give a step-by-step walkthrough on how to set things up, so that each practice game with Lord Rat will have an Allies card?  Thanks . . . I presume that I'm not the only person wanting this info.   :)

Just played a game with this, along with Advisor in the kingdom.

Advisor says that the player ends up with 2 cards (ie, 3-minus-1).  But when I "Chameleon" it, I get zero extra coins, rather than the expected 2 coins.  (And, having played Advisor as the Chameleon, I of course ended up not getting the expected 2 cards one usually gets with Advisor.)

What am I missing?  Is this a known bug?  Or, simply a misreading/misunderstanding by me???

General Discussion / What is a premove?
22 February 2022, 01:03:59 AM
Stef (or was it Ingix??) gave a sentence about it, in the overview of this major change; but I have to admit that my limited brain function leaves me still confused.

Can someone explain?  Maybe give one or two examples, if that would be easy to do.  I expect (hope??) that I'm not the only one confused by this particular update/change.  :)

Support / super-slow website today
01 December 2021, 11:06:40 AM
It's early morning, Pacific Coast time.  On the gameplay website; Dominion game is allowing me to do one move every 10 seconds or so.  So, one full turn can take 7 minutes.  All other websites I tried at random are working normally.  Just this one is acting up.

Any other Dom. players also having this issue today, at Dom. website??

Generally speaking, at the start of the game (the first several rounds), is it better to use Amulet to gain those silvers (valuable for buying better cards earlier on), or to trash those useless Estates (thinner deck = more coins and other actions in each hand).  Obviously, certain decks will make this decision easy.  As is when you'd clearly use the +1 coin option instead, to buy that valuable card.  But I'm asking about what's better strategy in general, in the beginning stages of a given game...more useful coins in your deck, or fewer 'dead' cards in your deck?

General Discussion / fun combo: KC + Monument cards only
30 September 2021, 04:11:56 AM
Game: 8626 2763 Tokyo.  Playing with Lord Rat.

Board had Kings Court, Monument, and Donate.  I ignored everything except KC and Monument, plus enough coins to get me up to 7 fairly quickly.  Once I had 2 KC and 3 Monuments, I used Donate to trash all the other cards I had accumulated.  So, with KC, KC, Mon(x3) as my only 5 cards, I could play them all each turn, and get 18 coins and 9 VP from then on.  Never bought another card with the 18 coins, of course.  So, with this board, a foolproof and automatic 9 VP each turn.  (Would never have worked with handsize-reduction or curser attack cards in the kingdom, or without Donate in the kingdom.)

It was a fun board to play around with.  I'm sure I'll never see this kind of kingdom out in the real world, of course.
