Once one has loaded an old game, is there a way to play both of the hands?

I recently resigned a game because my opponent seemed to lose their connection when in what looked very likely (but not certainly) to be a winning position.  Out of curiosity I've subsequently loaded the game with me playing as them, which has enabled me to see that they were about to have a poor turn.  But with Lord Rattington playing what would have been my hand, it's impossible to discover whether my opponent's poor luck could have been converted into a fortuitous win for me.

Would an 'Allow deprecated cards' option on automatch be possible?  Not with the intention of deliberately matching against another player with the same setting, but merely to allow deprecated cards to be part of the selection for the Kingdom if both the players have set the option.

Out of curiosity I had started recording which cards were in which card pools, but I'd only looked at pools 1 to 3 prior to today, so I know only that Embargo wasn't in one of those.  For completeness I'd be interested to know which pool it was in.  Thanks.

I've now worked through pools 4 to 10 so that I won't have to ask the same question about any other Seaside card that gets deprecated in the next two days.

In the past when a new set was released I'm fairly sure it was possible (at least sometimes) to specify that one wanted to play a bot game with extra cards from the set.  It's the method that I used to use to become familiar with the cards from new sets.  Unless I'm overlooking it, such an option doesn't seem to be available for Allies.  My suggestion is that it should be resurrected for future new sets (or made more obvious, i.e. as an option in 'Bot Game', if it does exist and I'm overlooking it).

Interface Issues / Royal galley
07 March 2022, 05:08:33 PM
Does anyone else find the way multiple Royal Galleys are displayed at the start of the turn unhelpful?

What is currently displayed is a series of boxes labelled ROYAL GALLEY, each box having a tiny image of the card that the Royal Galley is going to play.  I've found it time consuming to pattern match that tiny image to the cards in the Kingdom (my memory is bad enough that I can rarely remember what actions I played with Royal Galley on my previous turn).  Fortunately Lord Rattington is very patient, but I fear that I shall be annoying other players when I graduate to using Allies in rated games.

It seems to me that the display is the wrong way round.  A series of boxes each labelled with the name of the card that is going to be played (which is what the player needs to know) together with a tiny image of the Royal Galley card (as an explanation of why the card is going to be played) would surely be more helpful.

The ornamental design at the far right of the screen covers much of the scroll bar for the chat.  I'd not noticed this before, but today I wanted to scroll back to see how many games I'd played.  My first impression was that there wasn't a scroll bar, but then I noticed bits of grey peeking out from behind the ornamental design.

After our first game my opponent made himself ready for a second.  I tried clicking on 'Ready' to do the same, but with no result.  My first reaction was to click again, but again no effect.  Then I tried refreshing the screen, but that threw me back to the Matching screen (having momentarily shown me the login screen), so we didn't get to play a second game.

Subsequently I played a couple of games against another opponent, this time successfully clicking on 'Ready' after the first game.  After the second game I was about to click on Ready when my opponent left the table.  I then noticed that even though my mouse was positioned over 'Ready', it was not indicating that the field was clickable.  Moving the cursor around somewhat revealed that only the upper and lower parts of the 'Ready' field were clickable.  From just above the text to about half way down from the text to the bottom of the field was not clickable.

I'm using Firefox 97.0 on Ubuntu.

This is not a bug anyone is going to be able to investigate – the game in question (6902095) gives an internal error if one tries to load it – but I thought I'd report it anyway.

I used Procession on a 3-cost action card (I can't remember which one) and gained a Nomad Camp when that card was trashed.  After doing so (and with both no Actions left and no Action cards in hand) I wasn't offered the option to autoplay the 3 Silvers that I had.  Although I can't remember whether I tried playing them individually, I'm fairly sure that it wouldn't have been possible.  I had a Night card (Ghost, I think) in hand.  I was being asked which Night to play, which suggests that my Buy phase had been skipped completely.

Sorry for the vagueness of this report.  I had expected to be able to go back and look at the game in more detail, e.g. to confirm that I hadn't somehow clicked on 'End buys' accidentally.  Alas the internal error when trying to load the game precludes that.

I realise that the nature of random events means that rare occurrences must eventually happen to someone, but this is my experience this morning against Lord Rattington:

Played three games with Stockpile.
Resigned two games at the start because Stockpile had been drawn yet again.
Finally got a game with Bounty Hunter.
In the course of the next five games Stockpile appeared four times, Coven once.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?  Or have I merely been the person to whom a rare occurrence has occurred?

I've just had a game in which my opponent was unable to do anything after playing Shepherd and Skulk as a result of a Golem.  The game number was 8120244.  We're both going to post screenshots.

See game 6137525, decision 70.

This bug seems to be an odd corner case of a Buy phase with zero buys but with coins available to spend.

I had just bought a Villa so had been returned to my Action phase.  As I did not have any use for the $1, the actions or the buy from Villa, I didn't play it.  Instead I clicked on 'End Actions'.  I now found myself in the Buy phase with zero buys.  The 'End Turn' option was not available and the Buy phase did not immediately end.  I have two reasons to believe that that was because there were coins available to spend:

  • When I spent them, the phase and the turn did end.
  • If I reload the game at decision 69 and spend all the coins before buying Villa, the turn does end when I then click on 'End Actions'.

Despite having played several games involving Inn, it was only yesterday that I noticed that the description that appears in the log when an Inn is bought is incorrect: it states that the selected Action cards are placed on the deck, whereas it should state that they are shuffled into the deck.

The recent change to ratings has had the effect of reducing the difference in ratings between a newcomer and the top of the leaderboard from about 45 to about 28.  That suggests to me that being matched against opponents now with a rating range of ±10 is equivalent to be matched against opponents previously with a rating range of about ±15, so I've adjusted my personal settings to match only against opponents with a rating range of ±8 (maybe ±7 would be more appropriate) in an attempt to be matched against roughly the same subset of potential players as before the change.

Does anyone see a flaw in my logic?

I've just had a game (5051932 against HK-ad3) during which my browser hung.  Having killed and restarted the browser I logged back in and found myself at the 'Matching' screen rather than back in the game that I had been playing.  My unfortunate opponent will have had to wait to force a resignation and will no doubt be under the false impression that I quit the game because I was losing.

I've had a browser hang in the past and have successfully reconnected to the game by killing the browser, restarting it and then logging in again, so I'm puzzled as to why it didn't work this time, though in his description of the latest release Stef referred to improvements when reconnecting.  Has one of those 'improvements' caused a problem?

By the way I'm dane-m when playing.

Some players dislike it when their opponent resigns in a lost position.  Against such players I do not want to resign.  Other players dislike being forced to play out a game that they are clearly going to win.  Against such players I am willing to resign, assuming of course that I'm of the opinion that they are clearly going to win, even though my natural inclination is to play the game out.

Given the above, when I'm in a clearly lost position I would like to be able to offer my resignation so that I don't have to guess which of the two categories my opponent is in.  Currently I can only do this via the chat, but this is only a viable option if I know I'm playing against someone who speaks English.  To get round this problem it would be nice if the UI were to include the ability to offer one's resignation.  Perhaps this could be done by extending the current 'Yes'/'No' choice after clicking on 'Resign' to 'Yes'/'Offer resignation'/'No'.

Joining game #4941678 on oregon.

Turn 17 - Lord Rattington
L plays a Squire
L plays a Replace
  L trashes an Overgrown Estate
  L draws a card
Waiting for Lord Rattington

Closing my browser, reopening it and then logging back in then hung at 'Connected to gameserver'.

Closing my browser, reopening it and then clicking on 'Kick' gave the message 'Nothing to kick'.  It's the first time I've tried using 'Kick' so maybe I didn't do it right, but I had filled in my username and password before clicking on it.

I was reduced to closing my browser, reopening it, logging back in and then clicking on 'Cancel & Resign' while hung at 'Connected to gameserver'.  It's a bit much when a bot slow rolls to force a resignation.  :)
