I'm a free-to-play customer right now, and the one thing I can think of that would actually make me buy Silver or Gold would be to add another option to the "AUTOMATCH" list for Game Type.

Options:
1) Classic
2) Speed
3) Classic or Speed

Classic Dominion = The game as it is now

Speed Dominion = Each player gets a 5 minute timer, and every moment that the screen banner reads "Your Turn!" the timer starts a countdown towards zero.  Yes, this includes time when a non-active player is responding to an attack requiring a discard, or an Advisor/Envoy pick-a-card.  Any time it's "your turn" and the game is waiting for you... even if disconnected due to an internet problem.

When a timer reaches zero, the player who exhausted their clock automatically resigns.

Justification: I often have only 10 of 15 minutes to kill.  At times like this, I don't want to be stuck in a game with some perfectionist rank 50+ player who wants a 30 minute session so they can play every piece of their 40-card deck each turn

I respect that level of play, but I'm not always interested in being a part of it, and I don't want to be forced to resign just because the other player is trying to prep for a Tournament Game when I'm just here to kill time and have FUN.

DETAILS: Just like 2P and 3P have independent player ratings, Speed Dominion IS A DIFFERENT GAME than Classic Dominion.  Players must have separate ratings for Speed vs Classic (identical to the current treatment of 2P vs 3P rankings).

Those who don't want to play Speed... just don't enable it, and stick to Classic mode.  On a weekend when I have no schedule and no other tasks going on in my life, I'll enable Classic mode.  100% individual player choice.

Make it a paid feature so that  one of the players must be Silver or Gold in order to start a Speed Game (just like the current logic for expansion decks).

If I see this feature, I'll get out my credit card!

Not a bad idea...I think they could do the same for customized kingdoms, they have decided that only random sets should be rated games...this category for customized games would allow for the same sort of play you suggest.  I also think 4 min. is way too long for the timeout as noted below in another comment.

If you are playing with friends, why do the games need to be rated?

How else do you keep track of wins?  The whole point is to rate the players, what difference does it make if they are custom sets or not...I'll tell you why...custom sets are a LOT more challenging than random sets.  If for no other reason they should be allowed a rated play.  I've been playing this game since before it moved to this server and we have TWO random sets we've played over the years that had any real comparative challenge in them.  You may get two good cards working together in a random set, maybe three...certainly no more than that and there is no theme.  A created kingdom offers far more challenge as well as a great theme.

Yes - thanks. That helped!

Actually, automatch on my computer shows no preview key.  I am not happy with many of the changes to the site.

None of my friends are either and there are a good 25 of us that play regularly.

Limiting rated games to random sets is also not making any of us happy as the random sets do not compare to our theme kingdoms for playability.

Somebody needs to rethink what you are doing.  You are making the game more restrictive, not user friendly.

I forwarded the cimplaint (that is not the only one of this kind) and made a suggestion how to allow "a few" costumizations without it becoming "cooking the board".

Why not simply allow a player to open a 'closed' table that can be set to rated so that subscribers can play custom sets with people they play with regularly.

Ditto...

We have about 15 players in our game group that detest random sets.  We have over 200 customized sets that we play and we seldom if ever allow new players to join our group without telling them the sets are customized for our enjoyment.  We all agree the theme sets are much more enjoyable.

When I select my kingdom cards and choose the rated option, the kingdom is thrown out.  Is the rated option only for random sets now??

How to Play / new interface rated game option
25 February 2022, 06:05:42 AM
We used to play our games with the option set to rated. Now when I create the kingdom and then click on rated game, the kingdom is eliminated...is the new rated feature only good for random game sets?

General Discussion / Loading previous games

Just how do you load an old game?  I have tried repeatedly and it drops me into the game at the score screen...I'd like to start the game from the beginning....

Thanks~
