Card Bugs / new WAY overlay
03 March 2022, 03:26:42 PM
The new UI has the WAY card play cover the entirety of the action card's text. It is annoying to have to right click a card each time to read the card's action text. Sorry for not having everything memorized and all, but I still find I need to reread the action copy to decide if I want to use the WAY or the card as-is.

I honestly cannot recall if the old UI covered it entirely, but I do not think it did.

Card Bugs / Re: Lighthouse not working
30 November 2021, 05:38:17 PM
So my point here then is there is a bug.  While I can understand the inherited estates not protecting me, the actual lighthouses I did have also did not protect. I am assuming the game code treated all instances of lighthouse as inherited.

Definitely not working as intended. The original lighthouse cards in my deck should work as intended regardless of the inherit (which should only apply a change to Estates....not change the original card).

Card Bugs / Lighthouse not working
29 November 2021, 02:55:31 PM
I was playing vs the AI (game: #90190242). We had a Mountebank and Soothsayer plus a Lighthouse and Inheritance. I Inherited the Lighthouse, so I had one face up on most turns. The AI used Mountebank and the Lighthouse did not ever block the attack.

What am I missing here, or is this a bug?

General Discussion / Re: 3 Pile Win

I'd chalk it up to new player or poor attitude. I've been flamed for similarly head scratching things too. Some people just want to play the game by their own rules, not the rules of the game.

3 pile victory is incredibly powerful and effective. Especially when kingdom cards happen to be worth VP too. Give me Islands, Distant Lands, and Nobles and I am going for the win via empty piles, not Provinces or Colonies.

General Discussion / Re: Using Duplicate

I wondered that too.  The exact exchange was "Copying cards...really?! Whatever." and quit. I couldn't understand their response. It really seemed like a rage quit as if somehow it was unfair or broken.

General Discussion / Using Duplicate
06 July 2021, 06:05:50 PM
Played a match where Duplicate (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Duplicate) was a kingdom card.  I bought it on my first turn, then used it as soon as it came up to dupe a Goathearder.

They then rage quit.

Can anyone explain why someone would find this card worth that behavior?

General Discussion / Re: GG ettiquete

there is literally no hard and fast rule on when you choose to say gg. say it when you want, say it or don't reply to it or don't.

People need to get over themselves.

I have reported numerous players and never gotten a single follow up or response back about what happened. Is this merely a fruitless effort and a black hole? Does this team actually take any action or am I wasting my time?

Hol up.  Just to clarify...when a player resigns (regardless of when it is during a two player game) they should not lose any more ELO than if they lose the game in normal fashion (all provinces/colonies bought or 3 stacks empty).

Resignation is part of the players control. Conceding a match shouldn't be punished. There are a host of reasons for why someone resigns.

Now quitting and forcing a player to wait the 4 min to force resign them....yes, agreed, extra punishment of some kind should come of that.

Not rude, just abrupt. I've done this very thing, normally stating "GG" or similar in the chat. When a chess player lays down their king does the opponent get pissed and flip the board?

It seems rude because you perceive it as "rage quitting" or something similar; when (and I can only speak for myself) I am simply saving time. Yes it may seem like not much, but when I sat through a lengthy action based game for 30 min....do I really need to sit for another 2 min while my opponent runs through their entire 42 card deck just to buy the last card and end it? Not really.

In the end, a resign is conceding the match. Take it as the win it is and move along. Don't assume offense or rudeness when none was presented.

This is getting ridiculous. I now have 40 players on my blacklist because of this behavior.

Is anyone on the dev team not paying attention and asking "hmm. do we want a toxic shitty community? Should we try to fix it?" or is it just a eff it, let's see how many people will just cancel their subs and quit this because ya know...eff it.

@Ingix I think you are more onto what I am talking about, though I disagree that multi card plays are sign of winning/losing. Chaining is a notable and valid strategy, I am very guilty of it in the RL game. What I mean are players who are perhaps chaining but then just buying more chain cards when they had the coins for VP.

Ramping up to purchase every Grand Market so you can by turn 20 have 152 coins and 82 buys and then buy all Provinces and Duchies in one turn as opposed to on turn 7, 9, 11, 12, 15...having bought a Province or Duchy and the game is done by turn 18.

Its gaming the game for the sake of some "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT TURN" Yeah, I am not here for you to get your jollies off. I am here for a match...and more specifically and preferably, a QUICK match. Some decks lend themselves more to that than others; but you can tell when someone is playing to win and when someone is playing to stroke their own ego.

Is it just me or are there an inordinate amount of players who are playing with themselves under the table with the moves they make and manipulation of the deck as opposed to just going for the win?

I mean I dont have any issue with the RNG happening and losing 50 VP - 10 VP. It happens. But some players lately are just in love with the "I must make 45 moves when 3 would suffice" lately.

Anyone else seeing the same?

Quoteby this logic, I can view you as an idiot for rushing and wildly clicking like a petulant and impatient child.

Well, except when we play slowly you complain about that too...

QuoteDoes this back and forth help anyone?

It's your thread. You're the one who felt the need to complain that people responding to your poor sportsmanship in kind were being unfair.

Does it help anyone? Probably not, though I'm glad you have this forum to get these struggles off of your chest.

Dude, my complaint was not someone playing slowly as in deliberately paced and careful. My complaint is someone pissed that I denied their undo request then playing slowly as a troll. clicking only once just before the game would auto quit them. That isn't remotely the same.

Yes i started the thread to point out that if the developers allow US the choice to deny undos then we should not face negative behavior from other players for that choice. That is not acceptable. If you cannot follow that logic regardless of agreeing with it or not; then yeah...you have the problem here and don't reply in the thread at all.

And once again...you label me as a bad sport for an allowable choice in the game. Am I a bad sport for buying an attack card and playing it? So fine...you are a childish moron. period end of story. Again...blanket labels work both ways.
