I agree that there needs to be more communication. I feel like they are being ambiguous and non-specific so that they don't miss a deadline and then have to deal with a bunch of people who are like 'you said this would be done by April 1st, why isn't it done yet?' And then they'd be like 'You fool!'. *laughs internally*

I feel like the bot thing is the best solution, since the problem seems to be someone quitting while you're in the middle of something. Since you are specifically talking about being able to resign on your opponent's turn, correct me if I'm wrong, but for you someone resigning during your turn without warning is the equivalent of your engine automatically shutting off and you stopping when you're in the middle of a street race because your opponent gave up. You might be thinking 'I wonder if I can draw my deck this turn' and just before you find out... it's over. I can understand how some people think that way and are disappointed by that situation but personally I'm just not one of those people.

1. Leaderboard

I'm hoping that the length of time since last release means that this is being implemented soon, since I've read multiple places that this was the 'next' thing to fix/add.

edit:
I read it under top priorities for 2017 which was posted back in December.

Top priorities in 2017:
1. Add retrievable gamelogs, rating, leaderboard

I like the idea of replacing with an AI if you want, though I think it should be a prompt screen with something like 'Your opponent resigned, do you wish to continue playing against an AI?' Then you can click yes or no.

I've played against many players who have no issue with resigning and we end up playing 6 or 7 games (some of which we resign) so it would be annoying if I was forced to continue against an AI when I'd rather just start a new game vs. said opponent.

I feel like this is a principle thing for you jeebus where you feel that people are impatient which frustrates you and you want a way to force everyone to be patient. Unfortunately like you said with the culture it is not going to work. Also I don't completely understand why it frustrates you so much when someone resigns right before you win? I mean... you still get the win and you know what you were about to buy to win the game.

From the other side of the coin a lot of people find it just as frustrating when a player decides to do something like buy 20 coppers on the last turn simply because they have the buys, so having the ability to resign when someone is doing that makes sense. Also what markus said, when your opponent starts his or her turn you know what your next turn might look like

Typically when I am contemplating resigning my thought process is something like 'this turn isn't very good and I am behind, I'll buy my cards and see how next turn goes'. *opponent's turn* 'They are drawing their deck and I'm about to dud, I definately have no chance of winning now' *hit resign*.

Also, in regards to finishing a game because you agreed to start, I think it is quite different IRL than online. A major part of IRL play is the social aspect which often doesn't exist online. If I am clearly going to lose a game IRL and we still have an hour of game to go I'll keep playing and socializing... in the same situation online what is the point of forcing yourself to play for another hour when both you and your opponent know who has won. I think it can be just as frusturating if I am really far ahead but it's on a board where I can't end the game quick and my opponent refuses to resign... actually a better example is when there are not even enough points on the board for my opponent to win and they decide to drag it out... why force people to keep playing? Also in the case of one player needing to leave for some reason, instead of forcing your opponent to wait 5 minutes to force you to resign isn't it a lot nicer to resign and end it right there for both of you?

Sorry if this is a bit long and know that I am not trying to attack you in any way, I just strongly disagree with getting rid of the resign button or limiting when it is allowed to be used. In terms of going back to 'the good old days' and telling your opponent 'I will resign next turn'... I feel like the only reason that existed was to compensate for the lack of an ability to resign at any time like you can now. Walkmen were cool, but should we force everyone to stop downloading songs digitally to bring them back?

I know the answer will probably be 'soon' but is there a timeline as to when the new leaderboard will be implemented? I feel like a lot of people have either greatly improved or greatly declined since the implementation of empires and 2nd editions meaning that good match often isn't very evenly matched. It would be nice for my games to start counting towards playing against harder/easier opponents soon.

Interface Issues / Re: "Crown" Logic
05 February 2017, 08:04:56 AM
The easiest solution would be to add two buttons if you play crown as the last action card in your hand. One would say 'play as action' and the other would say 'play as treasure'. This would solve everything including the +card thing since you wouldn't get the card until you chose whether to play it as a treasure or as an action. You could also ignore the prompt and simply play one of your treasures (which would then be crowned). If you had +card on crown in that case then you would simply draw the card after crowning (which is technically the wrong order but it is your own fault that you didn't get to see the card you drew before crowning).

edit: I only read the first page, so I'm glad to see now that others came to similar conclusions

I completely agree. You can see what is facedown on your native village mat... why can't you see what is face down on your gear? Also, I know this may be the plan in the future but it would be nice to have a way to see duration cards / mats without hovering like it was before. It gets annoying especially with native village having to hover all the time. I have to play a native village to add a card to the mat, then hover over my name when I play another native village that turn to see what was added and therefore whether or not I want to put another card on the mat or put them in my hand... it gets annoying having to move the mouse so much

Feature Requests / Re: 3 Player Matching
10 January 2017, 06:09:01 PM
What allen said. The reason that the chat was so biased towards three and four player games is because it was the best way to find them. I would join every now and then just for the fun of it to see how it was. I generally found that the players who play 3 and 4 player games don't play as often as the two player players. Also, most of them play for free which is why I would sometimes host them so that they could try playing with different expansions.

I do agree though that it should be an option. The table system could work for that if it was better organized. I think the table tab needs to be cleaned up a lot. Options to sort tables, hide running tables, hide tables with bots, etc. should be implemented

Update:

Same thing happened again right after posting this. It only fixed itself when the table I was spectating before was gone.

Connection Problems / Table joining/leaving problems
10 January 2017, 01:35:18 AM
I was joined at a table spectating but not able to watch the game for some reason (just showed the screen with players ready and a list of spectators). I decided that since that wasn't working I would try to play a game, so I clicked good match and started a game. When I started playing I noticed that the spectator chat from the previous game was still showing up... they couldn't see my chat but I could see theirs and my opponent could only see mine. I had left the game I was spectating on in the 'my table' tab when I started a good match. Mid-game I suddenly got kicked out of my 'good match'. I refreshed the page to logout and back in again. A few seconds after logging in it brought me back to the spectator table but all the player names were UNKNOWN_963 or UNKNOWN_5334 and things like that. This is what the log looked like:

UNKNOWN_3 starts with 7 Coppers and 3 Estates.
UNKNOWN_3 shuffles their deck.
UNKNOWN_3 draws 3 Coppers and 2 Estates.
UNKNOWN_8 starts with 7 Coppers and 3 Estates.
UNKNOWN_8 shuffles their deck.
UNKNOWN_8 draws 3 Coppers and 2 Estates.

Turn 1 - UNKNOWN_3164
UNKNOWN_3 plays 3 Coppers.
UNKNOWN_3 buys and gains a Wishing Well.
UNKNOWN_3 draws 4 Coppers and an Estate.

Turn 1 - UNKNOWN_81

Waiting for UNKNOWN_81.

I was also unable to chat in the chat box. I would type things and press enter but it wouldn't clear the text from the form and send it.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

I think the goal was to make it obvious which piles are empty, which means less sneaky wins. On MF I had several games where I didn't notice that the ruins pile was empty (I really didn't like where they placed it) which was quite annoying. IRL games never have the problem of not knowing which piles are empty, though knowing which ones are low can be a problem. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is if they do change it I would prefer if they still made it something that stands out.

Some other trash related suggestions:

Maybe have the trash look like this rather than how it does now:
copper x5, estate x2, curse x3

I personally don't care what order things were trashed in, some players might disagree but I'd prefer to just know how many of each item are in the trash.

I think it would be cool to see a popup when you play a forager showing which treasures have been trashed. Like a picture of a copper and a silver if that is what had been trashed before you played your forager.
