Card Bugs / Prince + fool gives you extra boon
24 January 2019, 04:41:34 PM
I didn't see this combo listed in the Prince or Fool sections of the known bugs.

If you Prince a Fool, there are two paths:

1. You already have the Lost In The Woods. In this case, it asks you (correctly) whether you want to discard for a boon or play the Fool first. It goes as you would expect.
2. You don't have Lost In The Woods. In this case, it does the wrong thing. It plays Fool, presents you with three boons, but then afterwards, it asks 'would you like to discard for a boon?' as if it were the beginning of a new turn. Based on the language on the Prince card, it doesn't say BEFORE your turn, it says "At the start of your turn", so this feels like incorrect behavior to me.

That makes sense. I wonder if it would be possible to add some kind of annotation for TOP instead of just the selection X? If I click the three cards and don't see the TOP until the end, I would know to cancel and re-order it.

Every other card that topdecks multiple cards puts up a screen that lets you order them. Since you are allowed to order the cards you topdeck in real life, you should be able to do it with this card too. I'm glad it's super clear to all of you, but I get the order of actions wrong on this card literally every time. I don't think it's that outrageous to ask that this card behaves the same way as all the other cards that have you topdeck.

Yo can this get some action please? I ran into this AGAIN today, game #13109315. I had three actions and one victory card in my hand, and I clicked 'action' 'action' 'action' 'victory'. Imagine my surprise and frustration after my opponent did their entire long turn to see that I ended up with the victory card in my hand when I did my next +1 card.

I did this wrong three times in a game and ended up drawing an Estate instead of the other card that I was trying to topdeck. My intuition was "the first card I click will be on top, and the second card I click will be second in line", but the UI interprets as "the first card you click will be topdecked first and the second card will be topdecked second and end up on top." There are no numbers to indicate which order things will happen, or a pop-up to let you drag and drop to "top" and "bottom" like there is for other cards. After the first time this happened, I was like "okay, remember to do it right next time" and the second time, I couldn't remember what I did the first time, so reasoned through what I thought would be right, and got it wrong. And then I did it again. After the third time, I wrote it down, but this nearly cost me the game.

Card Bugs / Defiled Shrine + gathering cards
07 December 2017, 02:29:09 AM
In game #9407036, turn 7, a Farmer's Market was purchased and 1VP was moved to the Defiled Shrine. I had set up this kingdom based on an IRL game, and this question came up during the game, and I'm almost positive the rules explicitly say that during game play, the VP that is gathered on a gathering card does not get moved to the Defiled Shrine after purchase. I could have misread, but it seems weird that you would ignore those cards during set up and then move the VP during gameplay.

Support / Re: Ready button not working

Had the same problem. I refreshed the page and it worked, but I feel bad for the person who was in the original table I started :(

Thanks for the tips!! That definitely is an improvement over trying to grab screenshots.

I still would love a more user-friendly process in the future, since the game number doesn't indicate what cards were actually in there. I'm imagining some kind of "saved kingdoms" screen that has the card faces all lined up, similar to what the bottom of the screen looks like when you are choosing kingdoms. But, I'm glad that there are workarounds for now!

Zeruf: You make some good points. Just a minor note: In parts of your post you argue against eliminating the resign button or "forcing yourself to play for another hour". That's a bit beside the topic of this thread, since I definitely did not argue for eliminating it, and only talked about waiting for one more turn (or less).

And similarly, to Twasa: You quoted me a bit out of context there. It looks like I'm saying that whenever you enter into a game you agree to a binding contract to finish it. I was only trying to say that resigning a game is something outside of the actual game, a "house rule", that is up to everybody to agree on. That was a response to Philip. As I said, if a Resign button is present at the outcome, resigning is part of the agreed-upon rules. (I'm sure you don't expect your opponent or yourself to "resign at any time for whatever reason at all, no explanation, forewarning or apology required" when sitting down to play a game IRL for instance. So I don't think you necessarily disagree with what I was saying in that post if you re-read it.)

I REALLY like what you described here, how resign is a 'house rule'. Perhaps it could be a setting, like anything else, so that people who hate resigns (like me, I will keep playing through to the end even if it's impossible for me to win; it never occurred to me that it would be annoying to the winning player!!) could have that setting turned off and won't be matched with players who have it turned on? At this point, I pretty much only play with bots or in games where I know the other player IRL because I'm so irritated by saying to myself "ah, I will play a nice game of Dominion over my lunch break" only to have the other player resign halfway through, and then I'm not able to play a game through to conclusion because I don't have enough time.

I feel like this is a principle thing for you jeebus where you feel that people are impatient which frustrates you and you want a way to force everyone to be patient. Unfortunately like you said with the culture it is not going to work. Also I don't completely understand why it frustrates you so much when someone resigns right before you win? I mean... you still get the win and you know what you were about to buy to win the game.

From the other side of the coin a lot of people find it just as frustrating when a player decides to do something like buy 20 coppers on the last turn simply because they have the buys, so having the ability to resign when someone is doing that makes sense. Also what markus said, when your opponent starts his or her turn you know what your next turn might look like

Typically when I am contemplating resigning my thought process is something like 'this turn isn't very good and I am behind, I'll buy my cards and see how next turn goes'. *opponent's turn* 'They are drawing their deck and I'm about to dud, I definately have no chance of winning now' *hit resign*.

Also, in regards to finishing a game because you agreed to start, I think it is quite different IRL than online. A major part of IRL play is the social aspect which often doesn't exist online. If I am clearly going to lose a game IRL and we still have an hour of game to go I'll keep playing and socializing... in the same situation online what is the point of forcing yourself to play for another hour when both you and your opponent know who has won. I think it can be just as frusturating if I am really far ahead but it's on a board where I can't end the game quick and my opponent refuses to resign... actually a better example is when there are not even enough points on the board for my opponent to win and they decide to drag it out... why force people to keep playing? Also in the case of one player needing to leave for some reason, instead of forcing your opponent to wait 5 minutes to force you to resign isn't it a lot nicer to resign and end it right there for both of you?

Sorry if this is a bit long and know that I am not trying to attack you in any way, I just strongly disagree with getting rid of the resign button or limiting when it is allowed to be used. In terms of going back to 'the good old days' and telling your opponent 'I will resign next turn'... I feel like the only reason that existed was to compensate for the lack of an ability to resign at any time like you can now. Walkmen were cool, but should we force everyone to stop downloading songs digitally to bring them back?

I agree with you that Resign is necessary and desirable, but I'm two for two this morning in games where my opponents abruptly resigned before it was obvious who was winning. I was *probably* winning in both cases, but it was not a runaway situation nor was it a guarantee. The second opponent didn't even bother with resigning, they just left the table and forced me to wait five minutes so I could force them to resign. Both cases left me inordinately irritated because once the person ragequits, I have no recourse to be like "Hey what happened? Why did you leave the game?" Having a mechanism where the opponent at least has to (or is encouraged) to give the other person warning before they disappear would be nice.

Currently, if I'm in the middle of a game where cards were selected randomly, I have to take a screenshot in the middle of the game if I want to save the set. If I forget to do this, the game ends, and I have no way to get back into the game to record the cards. This makes me sad! I often play against people online or with the robot, and would love to replay a fun set with my partner or a friend. I wish there was a button on the "end game" screen to say "save this combination of kingdom cards for a future game?" and a way to retrieve a list of them later...

Feature Requests / Update familiar cards more easily
28 February 2017, 09:49:22 PM
I would love an option to update my familiar card list after I have played a game. Perhaps a box on the end-game screen that has a list of all unfamiliar cards that were in this game, and checkboxes that I can select if I feel comfortable enough with the card to add it to my "familiar" list. Having to remember and go update it myself is cumbersome.

Support / Re: Undo request undid 10+ turns
14 February 2017, 04:38:12 PM
I realize now that this should probably have gone in the "bug reports" section, and I see some other Undo related issues in there. I may have the game number captured because I did a screen cap after we decided to abandon the game because I liked the set of cards we were using, so I can post with that later if it would be helpful. We didn't have Forager, which was mentioned in another post about this sort of bug. I had clicked "autoplay treasures" and then realized that I didn't want the coppers to be played, because I wanted to buy Grand Markets. I clicked undo, and it played out like I said.

Support / Undo request undid 10+ turns
14 February 2017, 02:36:41 AM
I was just playing a game and requested undo. My partner accepted the undo request, but it seemed like nothing was happening because on my screen it still said 'Undo  request pending...'. I tried to cancel the request and do it again. This time it worked instantly, but we both quickly realized that we had been brought back to turn 10 and our decks were completely different. I just wanted to report this as a bug to see if anyone else has experienced it and to let people know. I don't know if this is repeatable since it only happened once.
