Fellow users, lend me your brains.

Many new users are experienced and familiar with Dominion. They don't want a tutorial telling them how to play. However, it might help to have a brief (30 second long) tutorial showing some of the less obvious interface options.

My vision: on your first log-in, it asks if you want a tutorial. It gives you 3 options:
Quote"Tutorial for new players"
"Tutorial for experienced players (it's quick, we promise!)"
"Skip tutorials"

The tutorial for experienced players is a slideshow, showing the game board, and each click advances to the next point.

Examples:

  • Right click on cards to read their text
  • View the trash, Native village mat/tavern/etc here.
  • Some cards like Royal Carriage can be called later. To call them, look for the option here. ((Points to the bottom of the log))
  • ((Shows slider bar.)) This side will pay off all your debt. This side will leave all your debt unpaid.
  • ((Shows slider bar.)) This side will spend all your coin tokens. This side will save them.
  • Hey look, there's an undo button!

What other not-always-intuitive interface options do you think are important?

1) AI (both harder and easier settings)
2) Tutorial for new players
3) Tutorial for experienced players.

("Right click on cards to read their text" is the big one.)

Honorable mention: make the white-text-on-patterned-background more aesthetically appealing. Perhaps just using a different font, or better anti-aliasing?

General Discussion / Re: Better AI when?

Hey, thanks for the great game. I really love the new implementation.

I know we're all for better bots, but on the other side of the coin, I think making worse bots is actually a pretty high priority. I have a friend new to the game, picking it up rather fast IMO (and I've taught a lot of people the game over the years). However, she complains that the bot always crushes her.

I think having easy difficulties is important to hook the new players.

Of course, I know writing dumb bot AI isn't too hard, but adding functionality to support multiple *different* AIs may be harder.

Feature Requests / Easier Bot difficulties

So, most of the hardcore players here can crush all bot opposition on the site. However, I have a friend who is learning the game. She complains that the bot always crushes her. Can we get a "Serf Bot" equivalent for the newbies?

Also, thanks for the great implementation. I really like your version!
