I've noticed intermittent "Server connection was closed or cannot be established" failures during certain periods of time.  It is perfectly repeatable for a few hours, and then when I try again the next day the website works.

I've also noticed some periods of very slow image loading.

Is this a problem others are experiencing, or is it just me?

I have a twofold request:

1. Less sound

At present, the notification sounds are quite loud and jarring.  I work around the issue by either muting or reducing my speaker volume, but it would be nicer if:

  • there was a way to adjust the notification sound volume, and/or
  • a way to select different notification sounds so that users can choose something more to their liking.
2. More sound

There are places where additional audible cues could improve the playability of the game.  Especially if animations are turned off, some card effects can happen too quickly to notice without reading every line of the game log.

Specific audible cues that would be helpful for the game:

  • trashing a card should have a unique sound (ie. when an opponent plays a knight, a sound should let me know if the knight "hit").
  • gaining a card should have a unique sound (ie. when an opponent gives me a curse, a sound should draw my attention to it).

I'd be happy to contribute some samples if the devs were willing to make use of them.

General Discussion / TIL: timeout waiting for undo
19 August 2020, 11:58:35 PM
Today I learned: if I request an undo, and the player just refuses to respond for two minutes, I forfeit the game.

That doesn't seem quite right...

Time to terminate Sadeas9's ninth account, please.

Feature Requests / Re: Option to mute the chat

Just want to add my voice to the chorus calling for this feature.

Meanwhile, I just put a post-it note in the bottom-right corner.

Just me, or everybody?

Whenever I encounter "trash talking" in the chat window, I usually:

  • Don't respond.
  • Stop reading the chat window.
  • Win.

Card Bugs / Possible bug: Guardian vs Swamp Hag
05 March 2018, 09:57:45 PM
I suspect DO might be incorrectly interpreting this card interaction:

The Guardian is not still in play when the Guardian player is buying stuff. The sequence is:

  • Player 1, night phase: plays Guardian.
  • Player 2, action phase: plays Swamp Hag.
  • Player 1, action phase: Guardian goes to the discard pile.
  • Player 1, buy phase: buys a card and maybe takes a curse?

DO seems to think that Player 1 should gain a curse.  But a reading of the cards (Guardian blocks the action of Swamp Hag when SH is played, not when the buy happens) might indicate that Player 1 should not receive that curse.

What do you think?

As seen on reddit!  https://www.reddit.com/r/dominion/comments/826hvf/guardian_vs_swamp_hag/

There is an easy way to filter out hearts and bolts from temporary throw-away accounts: only count the opinions of users with paid subscriptions.

Feature Requests / Keyboard shortcuts
25 January 2018, 07:52:30 PM
It would be nice to enable keyboard shortcuts, both to enable faster play and (perhaps, I don't pretend to be an expert) support disabled players.

I imagine a scheme where:
  - playable cards are enumerated 1-9, from left-to-right.
  - cursor and enter can be used to select and play.

WHAT IF, when matching players for a game, if players with lots of "heart" markers tended to get assigned to games with other upvoted players, while downvoted ("bolt") players would tend to be matched to other downvoted players.

That is: let the polite people play with other polite people, and consign the rude players to play against other rude players.  It would add an extra incentive for players to be decent to each other online.

Support / Re: Accessing logs for past games

Alas, I'm having a hard time getting this to work as described:

1. Get a game ID
2. Open a new table
3. Choose "Load old game"
4. Enter the id and Add a Bot
5. Click ready
6. You can enter earlier decision points and replay from anywhere if you like.

As soon as I click "ready" (step 5) the game starts and immediately ends, flushing the logs again. Is there a trick to entering at an earlier decision point so this doesn't happen? There's no way to pound the "undo" button fast enough.

Is there a way to get game #'s for games already completed? Just played my tournament match and forgot to write down the #s!

Bump!  This would be great.

I simply think that undo shouldn't be allowed at all in RATED games.

As a player who plays while commuting aboard a rather bumpy train, I think undo for a mis-click is a common courtesy that should always be allowed in every game.
