General Discussion / Re: Servers currently down?
05 February 2017, 12:20:16 PM
Hi Stef, I think, it was an outage yesterday of about 30 minutes.
Since then the problem is solved for me and re-log went well after that breakdown - but it took around 20 attempts to be successful, because server connection was closed.
However, I was a little bit relieved when reading, that some others had same issues, too - but the majority of players had no problems at all. The major thing was, that I had to leave my players waiting at their table without any chance to get back to them in time or to leave an emergency call via chat. Hopefully they forgive me ...

Hi Icehawk,

has anybody told you, how great and helpful your features are? – many thx for your extensions, I really appreciate your service here.

Some thoughts for you to consider:
- the sort of the shown kingdom cards is the other way around than in the game
(yours starts top left with the cheapest card and ends bottom right with the most expensive one)
(in the game you know the cheapest is bottom left and ends up with the most expensive top right)
- Events and landmarks are currently not shown
- split cards are shown, but not as a corresponding couple – mostly the covered card is top left (like Avanto) and the Sauna card is somewhere
- perhaps you can reduce the size of your kingdom display to avoid the scrolling – so you can have 6 or 7 cards in one row and this will give the possibility to show even bigger kingdoms on one page then

And by the way, on a second computer I get the problem, that Chrome administrator blocks the installation of your plug-in, but I will figure it out somehow.

Adam, let's conclude our little battle here – I played my reaction card and you did it as well  :D

Given the fact, that you are the native speaker, not me, it might be possible that I did some misinterpretations within all your text here – so by the way I firstly had to learn, what does "trolling" mean and what is a "jab".

Nevertheless the posts coming up since yesterday showed me that my reply wasn't totally wrong, perhaps a little bit too rashly – and I am with Witherweaver that the discussion with all its good suggestions and opinions could be more motivating by avoiding assumptions and demanding issues with less pressure.

So I am more in the "good guy" mode being optimistic (typical Cologne attitude), that many things will become better on this platform in the nearer future, so let's play and enjoy the features being done so far. If you don't mind I will put you on my buddy list to find you somewhere in the universe of tables for further exchange and for some matches – I think this will be much more joyful than fighting in the forums.

Adam, the way you humiliate the developers also cheapens their work done so far - your barefaced assumption, that they are sitting around and playing WoW is for sure not acceptable. Are you really convinced to get your wishes realised with that style of communication ? I guess due to that rude attack the desired stash implementation will be skipped for a while ...

@twasa:
Being polite is like asking too much ??
Investing 2-3 nice words in the chat is asking too much ??

Hey, we are all human beings, and most of them want to chat and to socialize beyond the pure game as part of a living community – please don't expect that all players here are only acting like dumb parkometers – what a terrible world !!

Hi Josh, be my guest – I am not offended at all.

If it seems so, perhaps you can blame it to my non-native English ... - the last thing I want to have here would be a "no welcome" list due to divergent opinions here in the forum.

Nevertheless, the clear statement from Starbecca ("I was hoping that maybe Dominion culture could be developed to embrace good sportsmanship and etiquette") is for me a much more valuable approach than saying, "Good manners to ask first, or at least announce in advance. But not absolutely required".

I say: it IS absolutely required – we should never allow to see this as a normal behavior. I really want to encourage people to use the in-game-chat for saying hello, some nice words, asking for undo ... and of course, of course for resigns – otherwise one should prefer bots games.

We can't heal the world, and we all have to live with silent resigners or quitters (where is the difference by the way?) – but a stronger commitment by saying "quitters not welcome here" as an unmistakeable community rule could be a nice route to follow.

PS: at least when leaderboards coming up again, I would appreciate penalties for quitters (or thinking positive there should be an extra reward for the winner).

Have fun!

The advantage of bots games is, that the bots can't resign ...
The disadvantage of bots games is, that you can't chat with them ...

The advantage of human games is, that you can chat with somebody ...
The disadvantage of human games is, that somebody can resign ...
The even bigger disadvantage of human games is, that somebody can resign without saying any word ...

Saying nothing, press resign and going away should be stated as a total no-go.

So I will put Starbecca and JunkDealer on my buddy list, and all the others can play in silence with their beloved resigners.

Have fun !

Update: I just detected the scroll bar on the left side of the friend list - is it new in 1.0.9 ?
I could swear that is wasn't there yesterday.

However, now I can see the total list, thx for that.

Hi Bob,
if you are following each other (both sides have accepted to be friend), then you are (virtual) friends and you will be listed in the left part of the friends tab. In the match tab you can see, if anybody of your friends is logged on, you can join their tables etc. - I think it is not finalized yet, the features to find someone and to talk to someone are currently a bit limited, but give it a try.
If you are only follower (so your partner didn't accept you), it depends if the followed person has said "Yes" in the options tab to allow that followers can see their actions. If he said "No", than you can see nothing.

By the way, little bug in regards to the friends list - if you have too many friends >10 (lucky am I), you can't see them all, there is missing a scroll bar to go down. Not a big deal, but if you want to "unfriend" with someone who's name starts with a Z, you can't do this ...

Have Fun

The main problem for the global chat is, that it can be (and it will be) misused from ,,poopers" and cadgers ("anyone with expansions here? – invite me!") but also from friendly people only wanting to say "hello, I am here". I am in doubt, that somebody is wishing back this kind of unspecific communication.
I would separate as following:

a) For newbies: why not using the existing Discord channel for that ? – of course there must be a more intuitive way to find it and to have a quicker log-in (perhaps you are logged in automatically when being logged in into Dominion). A nice button "need support?" on the welcome screen might help people for their first steps on this platform. Of course the Discord must be maintained from the Shuffle-IT guys, and I don't know how long it is planned to have someone sitting there day and night ...

b) For discussions and strategies: I think there is no need for another channel – we have this forum here (ok, it could be tidied up a bit in the meanwhile), and then there is the brilliant Dominion Strategy Wiki, which I really can recommend for card-specific explanations and much other interesting and well structured issues. Why not having a link to both on the welcome screen as well?

c) For finding games with someone (2 players): great stuff, as posted before, the "good match"-button is awesome, the other match buttons might be the same, but all of them are only the 2-player solution.

d) For finding game with someone (3-4 players): this is the missing issue – the separated match buttons for 3-4 players would be a feature, that really rocks the party. No necessity of yelling around "who wants to play with me?" – the system will find your partners silently.

e) For finding friends or specific players for a game: that's the lobby for – in combination with the friend's list it should be easy to find your preferred players, to have an overview, who is logged in, at what table they are sitting etc. – the tables tab today is a good start for that, but it's not state of the art at all. The lobby feature might give you so much room for development, that I leave it up to you, guys, to create something fascinating (info boards, statistic boards, tournaments, announcements - gosh, the lobby could really become your master council room.)

f) Global chat: no way, you don't need it.

g) Table chat: is absolutely essential and makes a game different from a bots game. Ok, there are several players saying nothing when you entering the table with a "Hello" – but the majority wants to speak, to discuss and to joke with the players. Perhaps one day this can be enhanced to a live-speak (via microphone) – ever thought about that ?.

Conclusion: a) b) c) g) are there – d) is vital – e) to be "upgreated" - f) we don't need.

I am completely with you, that the current lobby set-up is only the start of a longer way to go to get a nice furnished meeting room for Dominion freaks to sit and to talk and to get appointed – could be like a little "Café International" with different sized tables and game settings, where people from all over the world are invited to find old and new virtual friends.

However, the outlook to get (soon ?) an enhancement for the "Good match" button also for 3-4 player games makes me confident that those pre-game features are getting more and more attention in the Shuffle IT priority list. As I said in one of my beta testing threads the importance of socializing features mustn't be underestimated  within a gaming community – especially for Dominion with a very different mixture of skills and preferences.

The old MF times to find appropriate players by yelling around in a global chat are gone – hopefully.

I really love these thank you posts, I did one last week as well – I am convinced, that it gives promotion to the developers and it will encourage them to keep on track while being overrun with various good suggestions and subjective demands, but also with some crushing and frustrating statements (- please remember, this is a gaming community, not a theater of war).

The possibility of finding new players (via the terrific 'Good Game'-Button) has given me some awesome Dominion matches last week, which I hadn't had in MF since ages.
To be honest, all this social stuff of getting together with other players in the lobby, maintaining your friend's list or pathfinding appropriate games still needs some technical improvements and even more some design attraction, but its pure existence makes using the Shuffle IT platform for Dominion freaks so much more valuable than the former ones.

Have fun

Hi guys,
I only want to say THANK YOU for your initiative to sustain Dominion online for the gaming community. Otherwise, that must be stated clearly, we only had a dark screen and we couldn't continue playing since 1st Jan.

I feel ashamed of people shouting out load missing everything they had before - instead of shitstorming around with accusations, offences and excessive demands we should be grateful for all that idealism and enthusiasm your team has started with to offer a one-year platform for free.

It is really ridiculous to claim Shuffle IT for a payback of the purchases made with MF – this would be like punishing the firefighters support for the blaze in your own house someone else has caused. Ok, the garden is a little bit in disorder now, and the house needs some repair, but you can still live in your loved house.

In other words, the new release still has its bugs and needs future improvement to become more attractive for 2018, which is feedbacked some hundred times now in this forum. But I'd like to have this thread reserved for all those players wanting to say some nice words to you.

@ Stef, Philip, LaLight, Watno and many others sitting there day and night to answer again and again the same questions and being confronted with inappropriate requests from impatient users. Cheer up! – you will know best what to do next, carry on – I am convinced, that the vast majority of the community is sympathizing with you.
