I think that when you reveal cards the display still counts them as being in your deck. It's not just Ironmonger or with 1 card in your deck. I got unwanted reshuffles several times before I figured this out. I wish they'd fix this, too.

First of all this is incorrect:

My oppo played Soothsayer, giving me a curse and a copper
Soothsayer only gives you a curse (Mountebank gives a curse and a copper). What should happen: you draw 5 cards; opponent plays Soothsayer, putting a Curse in your discard pile and causing you to draw a 6th card; oppo's turn ends and your Summoned Bishop is played. So at this point you have a played Bishop and 6 cards in your hand. Is this what happened? If so, that is correct.

I vote that we don't have a poll.

Current totals:
Poll: 1
No Poll: 2
Please don't mischaracterize what I said. I did not vote that there should be no poll - just questioned whether this was the place for it. I support anyone's right to start a poll if they want to.

Appreciate the effort, Funhaver, but DXV, the creator of Dominion, has both rejected this feature and asked that this thread be closed -- so is this the best place to start a poll?
Thanks Jeff! A poll is the best way I can think of to gauge user interest, which is one of the big unknowns surrounding this proposed feature (the other being programming time). If you can think of another location where the poll will get a larger sample size, let me know; this just seemed like the place to start.
Thanks Funhaver, your post was helpful to me -- it reminded me that I once saw a poll here somewhere so I went looking (normally I just click on "most recent posts" and keep up there) and saw it is very easy to create your own poll. Just go to Shuffle iT Forum >> Feature Requests and right next to New Topic is New Poll, where a poll can easily be built. If that will get more traffic than here is another question - although a poll where people can easily vote is likely to get more responses than one where they have to type in alpha or delta, I would think.

BTW, a "crazy" thought -- "identical" starting hands could easily be done now by agreement without needing any reshuffling if 4-2 openings are acceptable. If anyone gets 5 or 2 to start they just declare "4-2 opening", otherwise 4-3 proceeds.

Love the anti-narcissism recommendation! Hope some people are paying attention.

I also have a good, lucky feeling that I can kill this potential feature, being me.
Great. Now do you think you could kill my headache, being you? That would be awesome!

Support / Re: Bot trashed 2 provinces for no reason

That's not because of its eagerness to start trashing. It's because the "AI" is far from truly being a full AI(using machine learning, repeated simulations, etc. to evaluate ways to best reach a predetermined goal) at this point. In a lot of areas it's still a PHI(programmed human intelligence). Clearly there's a programmed hierarchy of what cards to buy at the start of the game that doesn't fully embrace the 2 turn nature of the opening and basically programs in "Chapel is a great card - buy it ASAP" just like it's programmed to always ban Gold when someone plays Contraband. I don't know what if any AI background the Si guys have, but clearly they know to work on this and it will continue to get better over time.

Card Bugs / Re: Band of Misfits and split piles.
28 January 2017, 03:05:41 PM
Has nothing to do with split piles. BoM can imitate a cheaper card in the supply. Once the Saunas (or any other cheaper card) run out, you can't use BoM to imitate them.

Thanks, doozer, but check out this post of mine here that explains why it's an uphill battle:http://forum.shuffleit.nl/index.php?topic=1368.msg4336#msg4336. 3+ player Dominion players unite!

FYI, I've already posted about this here: http://forum.shuffleit.nl/index.php?topic=1235.msg3726#msg3726 and here: http://forum.shuffleit.nl/index.php?topic=1368.msg4336#msg4336.
I'm totally with you, but from what I've read don't hold your breath.

Of the 2 friends I most often play 3p w/ IRL, 1 just "wants to win" and likes VPC and identical starting hands, and the other just "wants to play" and hates both, so we always play w/o them. Especially now w/ Adv. & Empires the "wants to win" crowd liking VPC is understandable so too many heads don't explode due to memory overload. I certainly support you playing however makes you happy HD. I agree w/ JD's point that you can certainly use your variant w/ anyone you can trust to keep their word about having made an independent decision on the opening 2 moves (and his/her other points). I also agree w/ I78 & LF -- e.g. as p2 whether to buy Noble Brigand on t2 is totally affected by whether p1 bought Silver(s). When p1 wins, they get an extra turn. That advantage is mitigated by p2 getting to see what p1 did on their 1st turn, etc.. So, sorry HD but since the effect of opening moves is exponential on what happens later,
Quote from: Hertz Doughnut on 26 January 2017, 05:32:48 PMMaking two purchases without knowing what your opponent(s) is doing doesn't affect the game that much.
is just not true. If you like it though, hey, enjoy.

Interface Issues / Re: Sauna interface issues
26 January 2017, 05:39:58 PM
Wouldn't the most logical way be to have pressing Autoplay Treasures after playing a Sauna result in a Silver being played first, with 2 buttons Trash and Don't Trash and a message in the info box under the actions/buys/coins saying "You may trash card after playing Silver with Sauna", then if Trash is selected have the red borders around the cards and the message change to "Select a card to trash", which could then repeat if another Silver is there to be played or else play the remaining treasures in the usual fashion? The question of whether Trash or Don't Trash should be the default selection is more interesting as Trash is more likely to be selected earlier in the game than later.

Feature Requests / Re: Clear finished/inactive tables

Quote from: LibraryAdventurer on 24 January 2017, 01:52:45 AMI don't understand why there are so many tables that appear to be waiting for a player, then I join, and the host never starts the game. Why do people create a table and then go AWOL? (It does notify them if a player joins their table doesn't it?)
I don't know if this accounts for all scenarios but consider this: someone (who maybe only wants to play bots) creates a table. They decide to take a break. From their perspective, why close the table when it's easier to come back whenever they want and pickup from wherever they left off? Why wouldn't they create a table then go AWOL? Most of the time, how would they even know if someone tried to join their table (if they even wanted someone to) if they're away from their device or have the sound muted while doing something else? I'm sure better sorting and labeling will improve this over time.

3 player is really Dominion's sweet spot
I totally agree with you, Mick. I was first exposed to Dominion IRL as a 3-4 player game, and playing with only 2 seemed like a letdown. However, at least among the powers that be here we are in the minority at best (considered 2nd class citizens at worst). First, the graphic set up is oriented toward the 2 player game, showing the opponent's hand cards face down fanned out 1 by 1 where you can't even see the number of cards in their hand for >2 players (like you could with MF). Second, the buttons Quick, Good and Bot Match assume a 2 player game. They don't say "2 player Quick Match" etc., do they? And finally, consider this post by Stef on f.ds:

How do I change the number of players for quick/good match?

You don't, and it isn't planned either (at least not short term).
Our plan is to improve the usefulness of the 'tables' to make it easier to find 3+ player matches.

Si is run by championship level tournament players, and it seems like they prefer what they know best. I've suggested a 2nd row of Quick/Good/Bot Match buttons for 3 players but got no response. Maybe if enough people ask for it it might happen someday but for now I'm not holding my breath.

R gained a silver via Delve. The next turn I played a Treasure Hunter and some treasure and bought a Sir Bailey. I should have also gained a Silver "per card the player to your right gained on their last turn". (I looked at w.ds to verify this) Log excerpt below: (note: the player to my left gained nothing his previous turn, but that shouldn't matter)

Turn 4 - Revenge Witch
R plays a Potion
and 3 Coppers.
R buys a Delve.
R gains a Silver.
R shuffles their deck.
R draws 5 cards.

Turn 5 - ffejselur
f plays a Treasure Hunter.
f plays a Silver and 3 Coppers.
f buys and gains a Sir Bailey.
f returns a Treasure Hunter.
f receives a Warrior.
f draws 2 Coppers, a Silver and 2 Estates.

You can right-click to see a larger image of the card your mouse would currently select, then if it's the 1 you want left-click (without moving the mouse) to select it. I agree they need a reveal window like MF had where you'd see larger images of the cards fanned out at the top of the screen -- but even there for large hands/diverse trash piles it could get hard to see what's what. Maybe a multi-row of cards window is needed for larger card reveals, but then you're covering a lot of the play screen so there's no perfect solution. I'm sure they'll keep improving things as time goes on. (EDIT: oops, brain fart. Corrected mistake noted by dscarpac. Need to stop trying to be helpful :-X)
