I like the radio button idea and think we'll go for that.

I also found it weird that I needed to confirm the card I trashed to my Expand before choosing what to gain. I realize the intent is to be able to undo it but I think you can still do that while selecting the card you want to gain. I have not thought this through.

You can disable the need to confirm trashes/discards/etc. of single cards in your user profile under game options. These options will be accessible from the game itself as well at some point.

I think he means there is no reason to NOT pay off debt after your last buy. If you have some extra coins, they would always just go towards paying any debt you have, so why make this a choice? I can't think of an edgecase offhand.

The first (and usually last) place to look for edge cases is Possession, and so it is here: if you expect your opponent to possess you next turn, there's a good chance you don't want to pay off debt now.

The solution is here is an autoplay that you just disable in the case you play with Possession. Autoplay is planned for sometime in 2017.

I think what's going on is with one, you click exchange to exchange it.  But with more than one, it's a toggle set to exchange by default, and so it says "exchange".  Clicking exchange toggles it to "keep".  Not very intuitive.

Yeah, it was the other way around but people complained that it did the opposite of what they expected, so I changed it. I'm afraid that about half the people expect it one way, and another half the other.

What I'm considering for multiple items is to make a label above the button describing the current state (e.g. "Exchange" or "Keep"), with the button itself just saying "Toggle".

Feature Requests / Re: Gender in registration form
12 December 2016, 02:01:04 PM
As per the release later today (0.12.12), you no longer choose the gender at sign up but a possessive determiner, with the choices being "his", "her" and "their". When we import the usernames we will get from Making Fun, we will default to "their", with users being able to change it as they see fit.

Connection Problems / Re: Game not loading after crash

I think what needs to happen is that a game should be cancelled if someone disconnects before it's fully started.

For now, to get you out of a state like this you can enter your login details on the login page and then click the "Kick & Resign" link. There's no need to find your opponent to save you :)

I just tried creating an account with the user name "Cactus" ... I have the continuous "Singing you up" message and refreshing doesn't seem to have helped.

Refreshing brings you back to the login page, right? You should be able to login with the username Cactus and the password you've chosen, but the account will not be activated yet (so you can spectate, but not host games).

Other Bugs / Re: IP Requests
11 December 2016, 02:00:19 PM
When you login you connect to our so-called metaserver, which handles everything related to accounts, lobby, tables, matchmaking, etc. When you actually start (or return to) a game the metaserver tells the client to connect to one of several gameservers. The IP you mention belongs to the gameserver in Frankfurt, so this looks like expected behavior.

Feature Requests / Re: Creating Accounts
11 December 2016, 01:01:40 PM
Just released a new client version (0.12.11) that gives you a "Signing up" message after you submit the form.

If everything goes correctly your account gets created and you will be logged in.

If your account cannot be created (e.g. because your username is already taken) you will get an alert box and be sent back to the signup form.

If you keep seeing the "Signing you up..." message, this likely means that your account is successfully created but there is a problem with sending the confirmation e-mail. We're still investigating what's going on there, but you should be able to login by refreshing the page and entering your account info. Your e-mail will however not be confirmed, so you won't be able to host games and stuff. Please post the username you signed up with here so we can activate it manually for now.

General Discussion / Re: A bit of support
11 December 2016, 12:04:03 PM
Thanks a lot!

Personally I'm very happy with the responses so far. With there being less features ready than we'd have liked at this point, there is always the fear of disappointment and a backlash, but so far the responses have been very encouraging and it definitely fills me with energy :)

Also you have my compassion that you have to work with Javascript :)

lol, thanks. I wish I could say it isn't that bad :D

Connection Problems / Re: Already logged in

You kick by typing in your username and password and then clicking the "Kick" link at the bottom (which will appear next to "Forgot your password?" once both username and password fields are filled). If you're not just logged in elsewhere but also stuck in a broken game or otherwise corrupt state that it tries to get you back to, you should click "Kick & Resign" instead.

AI bugs / Re: Bots play
11 December 2016, 11:39:59 AM
The current bot is awful and will be improved before launch. The issue of it trashing Provinces is known, but for sure it's helpful to report specific dumb things it does. I suggest we collect all the info in this thread.

Here are my personal notes so far:

Quote from: Philip

  • Higher junker priority (right now Philosopher's Stone > Familiar).
  • Maximum own limit for certain cards (e.g. Counterfeit, Fortune, Junk Dealer, Bandit).
  • Prioritize treasure play order (e.g. Bank, Fortune last).
  • Increase value of Duchy when Duke is in the kingdom.
  • Don't play Storyteller as just a cantrip.
  • Reveal a card to Gladiator if it has a copy in hand.
  • Too conservative with terminals (e.g. buys just one Cutpurse when it plays Cutpurse-Relic BM).
  • Opens double Silver on a board with Marauder and no other attacks or meaningful terminals.
  • Plays Counterfeit as Copper, not trashing anything.
  • Buys Poacher over Silver when two piles are empty.
  • With two piles empty, 2 Alchemists and 3 Provinces left it thinks it's in "Late Building" and buys Poacher over Duchy.
  • Opens Mountebank/Nothing over Mountebank/Pawn.
  • Seems to ignore Peasant because it doesn't value the upgrades.
  • Opens Silver with 4 + Coin Token over Baker.
  • It should only spend coin tokens if it's actually going to use them.
  • It ignores the VP on the Temple pile (even if it contains 12, it prefers a Province).
  • Plays double Butcher-BM on a board with Butcher, Goons, Plaza, Bazaar, Caravan, Pathfinding, Plan.
  • Often Butchers Coppers into $2 cantrips.
  • Buys Silver over 2nd Familiar on T5.
  • Opens double Silver on a board with Black Market and Marauder.
  • First 3 $5 buys: Cultist, Patrol, Silver; should all be Cultists.
  • Opens double Silver on Courtyard, Lighthouse, Junk Dealer, Bandit Camp, Lost City, Relic, Soothsayer, Hunting Grounds. Buys a Bandit Camp (!) on T3 for $6 and another one on T4.
  • Opens double Silver on a board with Sea Hag and no other attacks.
  • Don't play/reveal with Amb if the cards are too good to pass.
  • Opens double Silver over Silver/Magpie.
  • Buys two Bandit Camps as its first two action cards, while Haunted Woods is also on the board.
  • Seems to overrate Bandit Camp, it counts a "bonus" of 2 and money of 2.2; in general it shouldn't rate both the money aspect and the other aspects highly at the same time. It now buys Bandit Camp over Gold when it has no other action cards.
  • Names Copper in response to Contraband.

Internet Explorer is a legacy browser and won't be supported.

Ideally there will be Edge support one day (which could be either due to us adapting to Edge or Edge adapting to the ways of other browsers), but it has low priority. If it turns out there are a bunch of users who absolutely have to use Edge and can't possibly install Firefox or Chrome, this priority will rise.

Yes, phones are not supported at the moment.
