Feature Requests / Link to rule books
03 April 2020, 01:08:12 PM
With the current free expansion rotations potentially exposing some new players to expansions they've never played before, I think it would be nice if the client could link players to the official rulebooks on the RGG site. Dominion Online just kind of expects players to already understand how to play with all of the cards and what words like "Exile" and "Coffers" and "Debt" mean.

Maybe a new tab called "Rules" on the main menu that has a list of links to the rulebooks? Could say something like "Dominion Online is the official digital implementation of the boardgame Dominion by Donald X Vaccarino and Rio Grande Games. As with all boardgames, you should familiarize yourself with the rules before you play."

Maybe even link to the wiki? I dunno, just something to help people get over that initial hurdle might be nice.

Other Bugs / Wrong Intrigue 2nd Edition box art
30 January 2020, 12:07:34 AM
On the account menu there is a list of all expansions with a picture of their box art.

Intrigue is still using THAT second edition artwork. Yeah, you know the one. It should look like this now: http://riograndegames.com/Game/1311-Dominion-Intrigue-2nd-edition

Other Bugs / Another faulty undo
18 March 2017, 10:01:54 PM
Game #2022126 on tokyo.

This is another example of that weird undo issue where I request an undo then never see anything happen, and if I refresh the game has gone back really far and is unresponsive.

Had a game with Sauna in it and me and my fellow player got involved in a discussion regarding the current interface and we wondered what other people might think.

Currently if a card has an optional discard or trash effect, it's currently inconsistent as to whether the interface asks you to opt-in (plaza) or opt-out (sauna, mercenary, mill). I can understand hamlet asking if you want to discard before discarding, as it offers options for what benefit you want from the discard, if you wish to do it at all.

I can't right now think of all of the optional trashers or discarders, perhaps it is only plaza that is currently inconsistent with all others, as with plaza you have to opt-in to the discard instead of opt-out.

Which do people prefer? Should the interface be the same for all of the cards? And if so, which way? Or should it change depending on the card to what feels most natural?

By the way, the game we played had both sauna and counterfeit, man that was confusing when you counterfeited a silver, as the sauna trash opt-out triggered twice in a row, very easy to accidentally trash counterfeit there if I didn't leave on the option to confirm every discard or trash.

Other Bugs / Undo freeze up, forager possible culprit?
25 January 2017, 11:28:12 AM
#661911 on frankfurt

Played cards to quick and clicked forager when I didn't mean to. Clicked undo and had no response, so cancelled the undo after a short while and went to just trash a card anyway, but trying to trash something else caused the game to freeze.

I reloaded and reconnected to the game, and when I came back the game seemed to have reverted to a few turns previously to a turn where my opponent was playing a forager.

Unfortunately since the hang I was not able to talk to my opponent, but as they had not said anything prior to this point maybe that is not indiciative of a further problem? Thought I'd mention it anyway.

Ultimately I just resigned the game. It looked like it could not progress any further.

Say you have a Haggler and Hoard in play, and buy a victory card. You have to choose which one you want to gain first, the gold, or the Haggler card.

The selection to choose the gold from Hoard appears as GAIN_BY_NAME at the bottom of the log.

Had a game where my opponent bought Ritual, unfortunately it did not let him choose what to  trash and automatically trashed a curse, despite other cards being in his hand.

Turn 14 - Boba_Fettish
B plays a Scheme.
B draws a Sentry.
B plays a Sentry.
B draws a Copper.
B reveals a Silver and an Estate.
B discards an Estate.
B topdecks a Silver.
B plays a Crossroads.
B reveals 2 Sentries and a Hermit.
B plays a Torturer.
B draws a Copper and 2 Silvers.
B plays 2 Coppers and 2 Silvers.
B buys a Ritual.
B gains a Curse.
B trashes a Curse.
B topdecks a Sentry.
B draws a Copper, an Estate, 2 Sentries and a Hermit.

You can see by the crossroads play earlier in the turn that he definitely had a sentry and hermit in his hand.
