Yes, it was possible before (like getting passed a card from Masquerade), but exiling is now a "major" way to do that.

Yes, it's a bug and everyone seems to be affected.

Your "real" ratings isn't lost, it's still in the leaderboard tab, but the matchmaking thinks everybody is level 38.75.

Since it's unclear how a rated game will evaluate (using your real ratings, or the fake 38.75), I'd suggest not playing rated games until this is fixed.

You can see if it is fixed when you look at the matching tab:

In the marked area to the right, you can see that it uses 38.8 as the basis to calculate the range of opponents that I want to match against. As long as it stays that way, the bug isn't fixed.

1) Make sure your friends have added you to their friend list:
1a) They have to open the "Friend List" tab (5th from left), then enter your in-game name at the bottom and click the "Add" button. Now your name should appear in that tab with a heart (or half heart).

2) You click on the "New Table" tab (2nd from left), then select "4" as the minimal number of players, then click the "Create Table" button.

3) Now your friends should go to the "Matching" tab (leftmost) and see your table on the right side in the "Friends" pane. They can press the "Join" button there (sometimes it needs to be pressed twice). It looks like this, with "Ingix" being replaced by your in-game name, of course.

3a) Once they have joined the game, they are just spectators by default. To become a player, they need to press the "Play" button on the lower left.

4) You need to wait until all 3 of youir friends have joined and become players. If somebody else joins your game as a player (like Ingix2 in the picture below), you can kick them, by klicking on the indicated place.

Most such players know that some tables are made for friends just as yours, but since they can't know beforehand, they join in in the hopes to get into a 4p game.

5) Once all 4 of your are joined as players, each one needs to press "Ready" to start the game.

Have fun playing!

Again, playing "at the Silver level" (only cards from this subscription being used) is unfortuntaly not something that's possible at the moment with automatch.

Other players have tried setting up a table of their own with random cards from those expansions and hoping that somebody else joins them.

On the general Dominion discord (https://discord.gg/eyyEvPb) there is a channel #want-to-play where people post when they want to play. That might be a good place to find people who want to play "Silver level", either by looking out what gets posted there, or posting yourself.

It's not optimal, I agree.

Thanks for the report, ferchault!

Something went likley wrong in this game, as it can't be reloaded (internal error). It's a 3 player game, but from your description the problem doesn't involve 3 players, just A and B. I just tested that scenario in two player games, with and without the Golem and in both scenarios it worked:

Player A is controlling the turn of player B. They make B play Militia, either directly or via Golem. In both cases the list of player A's hand cards is shown on screen for player A, and the appropriate number of which need to be selected to be discarded for Militia to continue.

I also made a three player game, with C the "uninvolved" player. Again A possessed B and made them play Militia via Golem. Of course, now player C is the first one that needs to discard cards for Milita.  If they take their time, the game may appear to be stuck. In my test, once C discarded, again A was given the list of their hand cards and had to discard, then the game continued as it should.

Could it be that in your game player C simply took a long time to think what they want to discard?

But then again, as the game doesn't load, it indicates that there was some problem with the game, which now is hard to find.   :(

Thanks for the info + screenshot. It seems some certificate date is a problem. I'll forward this.

Thanks for the report, though it's hard to say what may be the reason.

What version of Mac OS are you running?
What browser are you using?
(Both questions might help in finding a common cause).

Have you tried another browser on the same computer?

Firefox and Chrome have a "developer console" that shows error messages. They are activated by the F12 key on Windows, though I assume it will be different on a Mac, likely in a menu structure like "Web-developer", then "Web console".

If you open that console while you have the dominion site open and hit CTRL-R, it will reload the site and any errors will be printed in the web console. If you can copy them here, that might help diagnose the issue.

Do the following:

1) Open a private (Firefox) or incognito (Chrome) window.
2) Navigate to "dominion.games".
3) Enter your name and password, but do not click on the Login button.
4) Instead, below that button in smaller print is text "Kick and Resign". Click on that text. It should clear up problems, now you can play on "dominion.games" in a normal window again.

In a 2-player game a resignation is just the same as a loss, ratings wise.

For 3+ player games a resignation is worse (ratings wise, by a factor of 1.5) than coming last in the normal course of the game. That's because the 3+ player game cannot be finished (you can't simply remove a player, and substituting a bot isn't good because the bot is playing badly/differently), and so the other players can't find out who would have won.

So even if you know you will be last, this encourages you to play on, so the other 2 players (in case of a 3 player game) can determine who wins and give the winner the appropriate ratings increase. You're bound to profit from this when you are the one in the lead and one person is hopelessly behind, and then they don't just resign.

It's the same with any multiplayer game: If one person leaves, the game is often crippled in that it can't be continued.

Card Bugs / Re: Bug with March and Ways

Thanks for the report, Adam!

You are right the UI is bad in this case, especially as the Way is likely to be not visible, as you write.
I'll try to see if the "Way box" can be added to the cards in cases like this where the selection is from a list.

That (disposable) email address that you used has been misused for slow play and it seems you have been caught in the crossfire of bannings. I enabled your account and have changed the email address. Maybe change it for a permanent email address (even if you only look at it once a week or so), so if you ever forget your password, the password reset email will reach you.

Generally SMS verification sounds like a good idea, I agree.

Now somebody needs to program sending SMS around the world (in the order of 10s and to hundred per day) and deal with all the failures that happen for that. Then most online games need to ban tons of cheaters, which isn't really relevant for Dominion Online, which unfortunately has some griefers/trolls.

So the question becomes to if to inconvinience many to combat what appears to be a very small group of griefers. Maybe SMS verification is necesseray, but it certainly is something that brings a substantial cost in the form of friction for new players.

I'm really not sure what the correct step to take is.

There is work being done to better handle harassing players, detection of slow play may be easy on extreme cases.

If you have a player slow play you, than please report them on the form given here: https://tinyurl.com/dominion-abuse

which will only be seen by moderators.

When a player asks for an undo, they are on the time, not you.
