The possibility to save, replay and maybe share Kingdoms would certainly be nice to have. For the sharing part, the following is a solution that requires nothing more than text data.

When you enter the kingdom selection, you can select your cards via Mouse, or you can type in the card name. If you copy and paste a comma separated list of card names (including landscapes), you can fill in the card slots in one go.

The problem is mostly in the interaction with ohter players. If you are hosting a table, you can't select cards you don't own. It's when you require cards that other people don't want to play with that the problem comes up. I agree with AdamH that a better error message would help, but that might not be easy to do.

@dmc: I changed your in-game name to "octobot".

Card Bugs / Re: Blackmarket + Debt
29 April 2020, 03:13:20 PM
This is correct behaviour.

The rules say you cannot buy a card (or Event, etc.) if you have debt. That has been ruled to include buys from Black Market, so in your example the game correctly did not allow you to buy cards from the Black Market.

And unlike the buy phase, where you are allowed by the rules to repay debt, you cannot do so during your Action phase (where I assume you played Black Market). So unfortunately, even 1 debt will prevent you from buying anything from Black Market (in your Action phase).

Card Bugs / Re: Teacher card broken
29 April 2020, 03:07:15 PM
That's not a bug, that's how it is supposed to work.

The part in your description that reads

Quoteassign token to a card.

involves moving the Teacher from the Tavern mat back into play, so it gets discarded, shuffled into your deck and your draw it some time later.

The start if the relevant ability reads

At the start of your turn, you may call this, to move your +1 Card,...

"you may call this" means to put the Teacher back in play, as you do with almost all Reserve cards when your use them.

Yes, that would be useful. At least for unrated games, that might help.

General Discussion / Re: Manually Shuffle Deck?!
27 April 2020, 04:12:12 PM
When to shuffle can be important, but you need to do it inside the rules.

An artificial example is when you have a hand of 4 Victory cards and 1 Merchant (does +1 Card/+1 Action for our purposes) and your deck is empty. No matter what, you turn is not going to do much. Do you just end your turn, or do you play the Merchant, which in this case causes a shuffle of your discard pile because you draw 1 card?

The answer is overwhelmingly to play the Merchant, and that's not "because you might draw something good".

If you don't play any cards, during Cleanup you discard your hand of 4 useless (during the game) cards and a medium one, then you need to draw your next hand, so you shuffle your discard pile, including 4 useless (during the game) cards and a medium one and draw 5 cards from them. Even if you didn't draw the victory cards now, they are in your deck and you will draw them until you shuffle again.

If you do play the Merchant, you shuffle your discard pile now, and draw a card. It doesn't matter what the card is. Even if you can't play it, when you discard your hand now, your deck is already containing many cards, so the Victory cards will not be in your deck to draw until your next shuffle. That can be a big advantage.

Unfortunately, that's not possible. You can either costumize a table, then need to wait for somebody to join on their own (as you noticed, that may take time), or go to automatching where Platinum/Colony may or may not turn up.

General Discussion / Re: Manually Shuffle Deck?!
27 April 2020, 09:17:42 AM
There was a change to the shuffle rules, but not as you suggest.

In 1st edition rules, when you played a Smithy and had 1 card left in the deck, you would draw that 1 card, shuffle your discard pile to become your new deck, then draw the remaining 2 cards.

Under 2nd edtiion rules, you'd count your deck before drawing for Smithy, find that it has not enough cards, shuffle your discard pile and put it under the card(s) left in your deck, then draw 3 cards.

As you can see, you always draw the 1 card that was originally your remaining deck, and 2 more from the shuffled discard pile. The differences are small (under 1st edition rules, you would see what the 1 card in your deck was before you chose which card to topdeck with Star Chart) and mainly relevant for IRL play.

The online game does this automatically. Shuffling your discard pile at any time is, to repeat, not what the change was about.

Card Bugs / Re: Prince + University = doesn't work
26 April 2020, 09:45:27 AM
Josh is right. Another way to view this is: if you need 3 eggs and 100g of flour for a recipe, then 10 eggs alone or 1000g of flour alone isn't "enough" for the recipe.

University costs $2 and a Potion. The Potion part makes it not "costing up to $4". If you only have $4, you can't buy the University, for example.

General Discussion / Re: Rating not updating?
25 April 2020, 07:26:20 PM
First, you did not see ghosts!  ;D
The effect is happening right now as well (for me, for example).

Explanation is most likely as follows:

There are actually 2 of each server, so Stef can switch between them in case one needs to be serviced. That happened yesterday and today with the server that "distributes the ratings" (metaserver). They have your rating from the update (UTC midnight) and the games you played today, so they can calculate your current rating.

Now, if a server get's switched, the new one still gets your rating from the update from the database, but they don't get told the games you played today before that time. They are still saved, but the "shortcut" to send them to the metaserver doesn't work anymore, becase they got sent to the "old" metaserver that is now offline.

That means to the new metaserver it looked like you didn't play any games today, which is exactly what you saw.

That bug will need to be fixed, of course. But it seems to explain what happened.

Support / Re: Want to play with just friends
25 April 2020, 06:15:23 PM
The player who starts the table (clicks on "Create table") is the host. In order for other players to easily join that table, make sure they declared the host as friend by adding them to their friend list. If that was done, they can find the table on the "Matching" tab on the right side.

There are two ways the host can prevent other people from joinging that table

1) Go to "Advanced options", then set both the "Min relative rating" and "Max relative rating" to 0.

2) Click "Add Bot" on the basic options screen.

In case of method 2, the host may need to kick the bot before the last player can become a player. OTOH, it's also possible to create the table for 1 more players than expected, have everyone join as players, then kick the bot.

Are you sure that the number of games played shown is 5311? Because dombot says you played 5316 games and have rating 52.87 and it also says you haven't played any game today (which whould of course make the rating different from before).

I'll forward this to Stef, maybe he can make more sense of it and with your timing data it should hopefully be possible to identify the games.

No database was restored and the new midnight calculation was 1h after your posting (and seemed to have worked well).

I belieive you that samething strange may have happpened, but because of the ratings reboot some tools (like dombot, but could also be the in-game leaderbord) may be not showing the correct data.

So if possible please tell me what information exactly causes you to come to that conclusion? The number of played games in the leaderboard jumped back? Dombot listet no or not enough games for yesterday's date? Or something else?

I can repeat this with a slightly older Chrome version, but the problem doesn't happen each time. But something is obviously wrong. I'll take a look.

Thanks for the report!
