Feature Requests / Re: Time controls similar to chess
13 October 2019, 09:36:01 AM
The connection issue could maybe be handled with a periodic keepalive to check that the connection is still active.

I find the lack of this feature more and more frustrating.  If someone wants to think for 10 seconds about a play, that is fine for them, but I don't want to play with those people, and it is really irritating that the game doesn't provide a way to set any kind of time parameters.  I want to be able to force-resign people if they ever take longer than 10 seconds on a decision.

Also, the default timeout is ridiculously long, as evidenced by various posts on here describing how troll players "slow play".  One would think the default timeout should be set so that if a player took the maximum amount of time on every single play, the game would still be at least marginally playable.  Right now it's not even close to that.  (Alternatively, use a chess-style system with a starting time pool and small increment for each play, so that players who take a long time on one decision must irrevocably "use up" some of their total allotted time and thus can't do that over and over again in the same game.)

Good lord is this needed.  The most important thing is that there needs to be a way to set time constraints as part of the automatch process.  I want to play with time controls something on the order of 30-60 seconds + 2 seconds per move (i.e., per decision point, not per turn).  It kills me to play these games where people spend 5 seconds on every decision.  If some people want to play that way, that's cool, but there should be a way to automatch around them.  As it is, I just wind up blocking dozens and dozens of players because they play too slowly for my tastes.

It seems to have slowed to a crawl again.

Thanks for that info.  I guess I can use the Matching tab to mostly get what I want.

The underlying issue in my question is that I think it's irritating for there to be information that is available for matching but not visible when you look at the game "manually".  If it's possible to match on expansions, I should be able to see the expansions when I join the game.  Anything that is possible with the Matching tab should be replicable by manually looking at games.

Also, it would be nice to be able to filter in more detail, like if I want a game that does or doesn't include a particular expansion.

When I look at the list of tables available to join, I can see how many people are there.  If I join a game, I can sometimes see other information like "expansions used".  But sometimes, even if no expansions are listed, cards from expansions appear in the game.  My hunch is that this is because the "expansions used" is only displayed if some expansions are excluded; if no such message is displayed, it means "all expansions the players have access to", but it doesn't say what that includes.  I can't find a way to see a definitive list of what cards might be used in the game before the game actually begins.

How can I see a FULL list of all expansions that might be used in the game, before clicking "ready"?  Even better, how can I see a full list of all CARDS that might be used in the game, before clicking "ready"?
