Support / Re: Accessing logs for past games

Alas, I'm having a hard time getting this to work as described:

Quote from: jsh on 24 August 2017, 02:00:37 PM
1. Get a game ID
2. Open a new table
3. Choose "Load old game"
4. Enter the id and Add a Bot
5. Click ready
6. You can enter earlier decision points and replay from anywhere if you like.

As soon as I click "ready" (step 5) the game starts and immediately ends, flushing the logs again. Is there a trick to entering at an earlier decision point so this doesn't happen? There's no way to pound the "undo" button fast enough.

So if the bot is last player they will finish the turn super fast and the game will end immediately (if a human player is last it's not an issue).

After Step 4 the "Decision" number is set to the last decision of the game by default. If you change this to some earlier number which is before the start of the bots last turn then you will reach a point where there's a human decision and you can see the log up to that point and use "/undo" in the chat to bring up little buttons next to the log which will allow you to move to earlier points in the game if you want. How much lower "Decision" number needs to be set will depend on what the last turn looked like, so unfortunately you just have to experiment. You have to click "Load Game" again after changing the decision number.

edit: beat by markus but maybe still helpful.

General Discussion / Re: Value to playing out the game?
21 September 2017, 04:53:27 PM
In a two player game the only thing that matters is the result win/loss/tie, resignations are the same as any other loss. If you resign a three player game early then you receive an additional penalty to your rating.

edited: removed early for possible confusion as Ingix points out.

Can you please advise how we find our game number after a match is completed?

Easiest way to get the game number is to copy it from chat before the game starts. Those messages will also still be in the chat box during future games if you don't refresh the page I believe. But if you miss the chat messages you can look up game numbers of rated games at:
http://dominion.lauxnet.com/scavenger/?user=SaintO
it lists recent games and clicking on one of the rows (but not either player's name) will popup the game number.

If you played unrated games there's no easy way for a user to find them right now if you don't copy them from chat.

Sorry but I don't understand how to get in touch with my opponent. Could you please clarify?

In this forum, at the top of the page is a dropdown menu / link "My Messages", hover over that and click on "send a message" and use that to send a PM to your opponent.

It's more fun to spectate games where you can see the cards each player is holding and evaluate the choices they are making before they play the cards.

But I agree that the client should let individuals control what spectators see for those who are worried about cheating, and should probably default to invisible hands for rated games.

The rules say that you don't play any more if you get 3.5 wins - it's really just a best-of-7 with three times as many words.

3.5 would not win a best of 7.

You are right that this was automation.

I don't personally care about the information leakage, but I think this should just be an option with the default being off, more for preventing confusion than anything else.

Are the pending still going to be included if they fix their issue. I had not played enough games but I ended up doing so by the end of the 15th (at least in my time zone). Let me know, thanks!

Yes, you just have to meet the requirements by September 15th, the list in the OP is periodically updated to show people's current status.

just for my academic interest in the topic: there surely is a lengthy discussion about this somewhere on f.ds.com?

Well it's not lengthy but:

General Discussion / Re: Dominion: Nocturne

I find it strange that ShuffleIT would prioritize having lots of volunteers help moderate a tournament (for the most serious players) over essential user information like an official FAQ.
I find it strange to assume the volunteer efforts reflect the priorities of ShuffleIT, rather than, you know, the priorities of the volunteers. Who presumably decided to organize a tournament on their own and then asked Stef for permission to host it on these forums rather than the other places. I guess he could have said "No, not until you write up a FAQ for me".

Anyway, it happens that some people are working on an updated FAQ as well.

There are a few people around like myself who have been involved as Nocturne play testers, and some other people might think that is an unfair advantage. How should that be handled? Should we play kingdoms without Nocturne if anyone is concerned?

From the rules:
"7.1 The default is playing on the Shuffle iT platform (dominion.games), with the point counter enabled, on fully random sets including all expansions up to Empires. Nocturne is excluded by default."

So no Nocturne unless both players agree to it.

I don't have an email re this in my inbox.

It's in the in-game message system, when you log into dominion.games in the bottom right corner there's an "Inbox". It should be there unless it's been deleted.

The randomizers of split piles have the cost of the top card on them.
#60
The interface ought to make this information clear, but just so you know, the first card you click goes on the deck, then the next card you click goes on the deck and so on (the last card you choose will be the top card of your deck). So for a typical 5 card hand, first click will become card #2 on deck, second click the top card.
