We really, really need player ratings.  (I know someone said that we will have it in two weeks)  I keep getting stuck playing people that don't even know the cards and they play really slow.  (and play poorly)
Isotropic was awesome at matching you with players of even ability.  (if you wanted)

I believe that good match currently takes ratings into account, you just can't see your rating.

Quote from: ElisabetK on 07 January 2017, 06:33:53 PMMaybe put in some sort of "Don't trash any cards" message on the confirmation button if zero cards are chosen, just to be clear.

This. The button should say something like "Don't Trash" when there are zero cards selected. If you select a card, it changes to "Confirm Trashing".

This is the easiest and most obvious fix, and I think it should happen soon.

I'd still prefer my solution (described above) long-term though. It makes Sentry typically take 3 clicks to resolve. For example: trash, topdeck, confirm. Additionally, having all the decisions in one step dramatically reduces the cognitive load of the card (compared to a 3-step process with confirmations at each point).

Hearing what people have to say re: trusty steed and pawn makes me believe that some people would disagree with you.  They would much rather see all of the clicks, and make it simpler to understand.

I agree that it's nice to be able to play on a tablet, but it's not a good option.  Last night I was in a game that had a lot of combos so I was almost going through my full deck each turn.  Each turn was PAINFULLY long due to having to click each card I wanted to play or option I wanted to take numerous times for it to go through.  I gave up after that game and got my laptop out.  I know that this new platform is in its infancy, but I wish they would have been better prepared prior to the launch or just bought the rights to Making Fun's software.

Well I don't think they should've bought MF's software.  They are able to implement changes and bug fixes so fast because they are the ones that wrote the code!

I'm surprised it is so much slower for you on your tablet.  I have an old iPad, and I haven't seen any huge slowdowns.

Interface Issues / Re: Easy way to cheat

I would hate for spectating mode to downgrade in any way.  It is super useful for matches that people want to spectate!

I think if people just want to turn off that their matches can be spectated, that is a good solution to the problem.

I have also seen Summon a lot.

Loophole - Go to the "Familiar Cards" screen.  Click or "grey out" any card you don't want to play with as an unfamiliar card.  Go to "Options" and scroll to the bottom.  Select 0 on "Max Unfamiliar Cards".  I no longer have to see another Possession, Swindler, Oracle or anything else that pisses me off... lol.  This is DEFINITELY a feature I love about the new platform.

This is true for quickmatch, but isn't true for good match, which doesn't respect familiar cards IIRC.

Hi,

There is a very easy way to cheat and see your opponent's cards. You just need to create an other account and be friend with your 2 accounts. Then spectate the game you are playing with your second account. You will see your oppenent's cards in real time.

Thanks

LabattaBatman

If you are worried about this, you can always turn off spectating for all of your games in settings.

First, I've been trying to register for this forum since this started.  I just finally got an email verification today.

I played the old version on my tablet most of the time.  It was great!  Playing on my tablet now is so extremely frustrating!  I have to click on the action I wish to take multiple times to get it to work.  Also, some of the options for top deck, card selection, etc... are so tiny that you cannot see which card you are selecting.  This web based version is not good for a tablet.  I have a Samsung Galaxy A, if that helps.

Do you have an app that is being developed?  I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.

I know that making a dedicated app is a priority of theirs.  The beauty of the web app is that you can at least play on your tablet until they have developed it, whereas with dedicated clients, that wasn't possible.

I think if they just put a number in parentheses next to the confirm, so it now said confirm trashing (0) to start, it would become much more intuitive.  Then increment the counter when you choose something so you understand what is going on.

I agree that this was very confusing to me my first time, but now it is very quick and simple for me to use.

Actually, I really liked Woodcutter in some situations - if you are going for a big cheap garden deck it was a good buy. Also Thief: when you see opponents buying Mines or getting gold-generating cards it can pay off, especially with Throne Room. But then I'm a base set player for the most part, online and IRL. Maybe I'd play better without those cards on the table though!

Well I don't feel like you can complain about thief.  Bandit has the exact same effect, except it is like you always rob a gold (for 2-player), and it doesn't trash your opponent's coppers, which was the other major downside to thief.

I suspect this is already on the to-do list, but it feels really counter-intuitive and clunky to put certain card interactions as clickable links in the game log.

Frankly, I think the game log should be optional; the game should be completely playable without it visible.

I'm positive all of those links will get buttons soon.

I agree 100% on the right-clicks. Using them should be an option for advanced players but the game should not depend on those in any way. It's a real head-scratcher for new players, especially when their usual methods don't work, and it's not mobile-friendly.

As far as the number of cards changing color, it didn't on MF and then it did. It was useful to call attention to piles being almost empty, but not a big deal. I don't like the big red on white X for empty piles though. It doesn't fit the Dominion aesthetic at all. I assume that's for all intents and purposes a placeholder until they do better graphics.

Now a long press should work to see the cards.

I'd just like to add that it would be nice to see the last turn instead of being dumped unceremoniously into the scoring spreadsheet.

Also, I'd like to see what victory condition was met - some message about whether it was emptying the Province pile or three empty supply piles. That's very important to people learning the game.

It would also be useful to be able to replay the same kingdom, as that's a good way to try out different strategies, especially for those new to the game.

I know at one point they even wanted to let you play a game from a certain point in the log.  That way you can see if a different decision would've changed the outcome of the game.

How do you go through life without right-clicking?

By using a superior UI /sarcasm

In all seriousness I've just recently made the Mac switch in my day-to-day work, and the right click thing was an adjustment, but I've found that the most consistent way to achieve the second click is Ctrl-click. It doesn't depend on what mouse or trackpad I'm using. This is the first time I've seen it not work when I wanted it to.

I always have done 2-finger click personally.  I guess I just do a lot of right clicking when doing regular things in my browser, like opening new tabs, so it was surprising to me when all of these mac people had right-click issues.

Card Bugs / Re: Counterfeit + Coin of the Realm

When counterfeiting a CotR, it seemingly adds 2 to my tavern mat, whereas I'd expect it to not have any (or maybe this is a lose track thing, and it isn't trashed? Even then, I'd expect to see it only once on the tavern mat).

Also, to clarify, by tavern mat, i mean the blue text at the bottom of the log.

It should appear on your tavern mat once.  The lose track rule applies and it can't be trashed.
