Missing the most after 2 months

There are 2 things I am missing the most after 2 months:
-Ranking
-non-base quick match

Psyduck

I'd like to add:

- Inheritance
- A good interface for durations, especially duration attacks

I'd like to add:
You don't get to add, but I do appreciate more people writing their personal top 2-3 things.

Ingix

1) An AI that does at least reasonable things at a tactical level (not Chapeling its Provinces or discarding its own 2 Gold with Oracle)

2) An AI that takes into account Landmarks: It seems not to care at all about Bandit Fort/Wall (negative victory points for certain cards), it doesn't consider buying a curse even with 12 victory points on Defiled Shrine and generally acts (in my limited capacity to watch its behavior) as though a landmark doesn't exist.

3)Visual implementation of the "-1 card draw" token (right on top of the player's deck, please) and the "-1 coin gain" token (not sure where, maybe in the area that already potentially contains Journey token, coin tokens a.s.o.

Martin plays Piano

Here is my wishlist for the Top3:

Leaderboard tab
- please not only for 2P games – it should include also 3-4P games
- as an alternative there are several sub-leaderboards (2P / multiP / daily, weekly, monthly boards etc)
- report of last x game numbers with results per player (to be re-loaded again)

Lobby tab
- to get rid of the unuseful table tab
- chat with friends without joining tables
- graphical lobby with all players and tables and status (to join, to spec, private or public)
- leaderboard level of players to be shown in the lobby as well

Game visualization and text log reduction
- show game interactions more visually (to get rid of the text game log)
- show slow-motion summary of the last 1-2 turns per player (press replay button)

Gretings
Rachmaninoff

kn1tt3r

My Top 3 would be:

- Make game playable without log (not that important for ME, but it's essential for the casual player)
- Implement the missing cards
- Add leaderboard

Jacob Marley

My biggest want is the leaderboard.  My situation is that in the last months of MF, I basically didn't play at all so my ranking fell to zero (or very low).  I feel that this is well below my actual skill and means that now, even with good match, I am being paired with low ranked players.  I think I may have lost once or twice, tied once and won a bunch.  The problem is that I am rarely really challenged.

JunkDealer

My Top 3.... As a player who almost only plays bots.

1) Offline App for Android and iOS  (This has been my #1 request from way back in GOKO days.  Ever since I had (and still have) that old iOS free app for the base set of cards)
2) A variety of Bots (different play styles and difficulty levels)
3) Campaign Mode

There are lots of little things too, but while I find little things irksome I can manage my expectations around them.  What I'm looking for are big changes not little ones.  The things I've identified are all major features that are missing.

Since we are stating what our top 3 items are it may also be worthwhile looking back at one of the initial announcements:
http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=15162.0

I see other people outlining some of those small things and frankly I'm surprised there are still cards that have not been implemented (Inheritance and Stash).  Especially so, given the original post of "We will never be late on releasing new expansions".  Granted these cards aren't new expansions, but that we are still two months post release without these cards and no indication that they will be available anytime soon makes me question the ability of ShuffleIt to deliver.  I find it even more puzzling when re-reading that massive thread that last April Inheritance was reportedly working properly.  But alas I'm diverting back to my "Communication is King" speech and that omelet is already over beaten.

Cave-O-Sapien

1) Ranking system

2) More frequent communication

twasa

My top ones are:

1. Decent matches with good match. I think MF's automatch did better, in my case.
2. Probably a requirement for 1), ranking, without a large daily decay.
3. A way to invite players to a game, with some control over who joins the table, like one could with the goko salvager extension, e.g. "twasa's 3p 3000+ vpoff". This mostly for players who enjoy games that have more than 2 players.

jsh

1. QuickMatch options or default Familiar Cards to all cards for new users or give new users a tutorial on how to set their Familiar Cards and direct them to it right away
2. Move reactions and durations out of the log and onto the GUI
3. Stricter timeouts / a real timer / Timeout options

ThetaSigma12

1) App version, especially for Amazon store so I don't miss oit.

2) A better AI.

Bbl

1. Working AI with different playstyles and difficulty levels
2. Leaderboard vs AI, with increasing AI difficulty the higher you climb
3. Offline App for mobile phone
(4. Campaigns or Puzzles
5. UI Improvements, most importantly Duration Attacks)

AI is crucial when you play on a mobile device. With connection on and off, I cannot guarantee a good match for humans, thus I need to play Lord Trashington over and over again.

markus

1) Better visibility of (-1)-tokens and durations (attacks, set aside cards with Archive / Haven)

2) Being able to play / understand everything without log (especially on own turn, e.g. Hunting Party)

3) Sensible rankings that allow for more options in good match (e.g. how low am I willing to go in terms of opponent's skill in order to get a quicker match)

SirDagen

I really miss listing the contents of our decks at the victory screen.

Also there are some strange buttons around ("no treasures" for black market gets me every time). (A statistic for when the undo function is used most often might be insightful.)
Greetings,
SirDagen

Polk5440

1) Make game playable without looking  at -- or at least clicking in -- the log.
2) Implement more animations, visual cues, and better graphic as to make 1) possible and the game overall more like a complete game.
3) Implement solutions like dedicated apps in order to be able to play on more mobile devices.

kieranmillar

1) Cards automatically marked as familiar when seen so that we can stop playing mostly vanilla games.
2) Inheritance.

ravi

1) A game playable without the log
2) Ability to easily challenge online friends to a game
3) Better implementation of mats/durations

SkyHard

Top 1: make the money played "en block" (i.e. not one at a time if I click on play all). It is really really annoying!
2) Sound when I have to do something. Maybe different depending on reaction or start of turn.
3) Better visuals: duration, buy, etc. Shorten the log to the essential. I don't need to know every small step of my opponent.
3) Blacklist

I don't think this is possible or accurate according to the rules of the game, For example, if I have a Sauna or two in play, my Silvers have to be played one at a time.

Agreed, in that case it would be stupid to play all money, but so is playing coppers before the first silver. It could at least be changed to all money at the same time if they don't have any side effects. That would be accurate and should be possible too.

AdamH

1. Make it easier to understand what's happening during my opponent's turn. 99% of this can be done by making any card gained during my opponent's turn dance in front of me before going wherever else it goes. The other 1% can be done by printing the money and buys that each player has in the log at the start of each buy phase.

2. Put some time and thought into the "new player experience." I don't feel like typing everything out, but the philosophy of having to come to these forums (which are hard to find from the actual game page) and complain, just to have someone tell you a workaround for many of this, is not a sustainable thing. If you're not going to fix these things promptly, then at least make a tutorial or something to show people how to use this thing.

My top two:

1. Playable without the log.
2. Fix all the bugs in how the cards work (which includes tokens not appearing and even Journey token being the wrong way). EDIT: Also that there is no way to know where set-aside cards can be seen. You have to already know to hover over your user name, which usually means reading it in the forum. I consider this a bug.

These two are way, way above any new features, such as adding Stash or inheritence, logs or leaderboards. Fix bugs before you add new stuff.

Funhaver

1. Sound notification when it's my turn to do something (beginning of my turn, respond to an attack, et c.).

2. Ratings/leaderboard.

3. Past game log, showing the game ID and player names (in turn order). Click the game ID to see the kingdom cards. Click a special button (or column heading?) to reveal the winner and/or the number of turns taken; another button to set up a table with that kingdom.

In general, I'd prefer to see smaller, more frequent updates, at least for the time being. There are some excellent suggestions in this and other threads that don't seem terribly time intensive. The last release was about two weeks ago, and I trust that you've been working hard since then. I'd love to see your progress!

zeruf

1. Leaderboard

I'm hoping that the length of time since last release means that this is being implemented soon, since I've read multiple places that this was the 'next' thing to fix/add.

edit:
I read it under top priorities for 2017 which was posted back in December.

Top priorities in 2017:
1. Add retrievable gamelogs, rating, leaderboard

I agree. More small updates would be nice.

zeruf

I agree that there needs to be more communication. I feel like they are being ambiguous and non-specific so that they don't miss a deadline and then have to deal with a bunch of people who are like 'you said this would be done by April 1st, why isn't it done yet?' And then they'd be like 'You fool!'. *laughs internally*

allanfieldhouse

Remove all log interaction.
Reduce necessity of log through better animations (and an option to turn these animations off).
Better "game state" interface. This includes durations, reserves, duration attacks against you, etc.
Better AI. Doesn't have to be great at this point, but MF level would be nice.
General "new player experience" improvements.

LibraryAdventurer

1- game state stuff like allan said (including fixing the journey token so it isn't backwards).

2- Inheritance

3- sortable tables and/or some way to make it easier to play against friends.

From most-desired to least-desired...

For the PC:

  • A sound when I need to make a decision (e.g. start my turn, discard to Militia, grant an undo, etc.)
  • Markers to show when I'm being attacked by Swamp Hag, Haunted Woods, Enchantress... also when I have a -1 card (Relic), or -1 coin (Bridge Troll), or they have a Lighthouse/Champion in play.
  • Improved game clock
For my tablet:

I'd also like to see rapid releases.  It'd be awesome to see an update every day fixing a tiny nuisance and leave the big projects (like Inheritance) for the end.

Keep up the great work, SI!

Kind regards,
HD

Also something visual, like changing the color of the border of the box in the center  that says "Waiting for..."  I do not play with sound, and often don't realize that I am called on to react to the opponent's play.

J Reggie

1. The crystal ball when waiting for a match

2. Faux-medieval music

3. An oddly-written story for the campaigns (actual campaigns can wait)

But seriously, keep up the good work. ShuffleiT is awesome!

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. I will certainly ask again in a couple of weeks.

These are the things I expect to realize this month:

* sending in-game messages to players
(mostly to get rid of the misery surrounding familiar cards)
* rated/unrated games (including a leaderboard and more feedback/options for matchmaking)
* smaller releases
* inheritance

Note that the list for 'hope' is a lot longer then 'expect', but I won't be satisfied if it isn't at least this by the end of the month. Also note that this is my personal wishlist, Philip probably has a couple of his own for the client.

About smaller releases... I know that the last release has been a while back now, but unfortunately that isn't because there will be huge improvements in the next. At least not improvements you will be able to notice. The irony is that this release has taken so long because we've been setting up automated deploy-on-commit on the testserver, mixed with some days off and sickness. In the meanwhile the German translation is as good as finished, and the Japanese are working on it.

Wait, what? Sending in-game messages to players is your intended fix for the familiar cards problem? That's just unreal. See this post: http://forum.shuffleit.nl/index.php?topic=1593.msg5328#msg5328

Any of those things would actually solve the problem. In-game messages is extremely important but it's not going to solve the familiar cards problem. Please just take 5 minutes and fix one of the things I mentioned in that post.

I'm hoping/guessing that an automatically opening message about familiar cards will have an effect similar to your suggestion of a splash screen.
Maybe it wasn't clear that I wasn't talking about user-to-user messages, but (for now) only system-to-user messages.
Oh and please keep it friendly.

Sounds great, Stef!  Backend upgrades like you're talking about don't sound sexy and they're a pain, but they usually make things a lot better down the road.

Thanks for the update and sorry to hear about the illness.

Kind regards,

PS I believe the days off were well deserved. This is an amazing accomplishment for two people!  I hope you go to bed smiling about what you've created. :)

Please don't let this be an anomaly.  Also please make sure that if something comes up and these expectations aren't likely to be met that you communicate it out as soon as you figure it out.  Messages like this give me great hope for this product.  Keep up the good work.  This message is a huge improvement in itself.  Again, thank you!

Yes, this would solve the issue. I think it's a needed part of whatever final "first-game experience" you present to new users.

User-to-user messages are still extremely important, though.

If you click "need help" in the game client it takes you to the "Support" forum. However, that forum does not contain Chris is me's great unofficial guide (http://forum.shuffleit.nl/index.php?topic=1100.0), which is in the "How to Play" forum. I'd suggest adding a stickied link to Chris's post in the "Support" forum as well.

I was about to suggest a similar thing. Also, a direct link to this guide would be useful, although then it wouldn't be an unofficial guide anymore.

1) No more chat buttons

2) Chat log record choices made by non-chat buttons

3) Full log available post game for download (including actions you don't see)

4) Ranking

Toonster

I know this is a bit late, but I've not been playing for a while, hence not on the forums.

My two wish list items (big ticket, so I know they may not be for a while, particularly if you are still working on basic bugs)
1) Some form of in-game tutorial, even if it is a basic guided bot-game.
2) An app version (my wish is Android, but I know there are other people on other systems :-) ) The web version really doesn't work on my android (Samsung Tab A) - it freezes and crashes most games, and having to re-load three or four times a game (and often reload the reload because it won't come back up first time...) means that I dare not play against another human, and the bots get old after a while. This is the one thing that is stopping me from buying a full subscription (I'm not on the free one as I didn't have one on the MF site) - as soon as there is an android version, I'll be in there!

Sorry, but no. We have too many missing features, bugs and improvements to go on the current platform right now to be working on dedicated apps. We do try to make/keep the web version playable on mobile devices though.
