Value to playing out the game?
« on: 21 September 2017, 04:50:27 PM »
In regard to rating, is there a value to playing out the game vs. resigning? And does that scale depending on the rating of your opponent? Sometimes you know you are beat and you want to get to the next game, but I wonder if this affects your rating.

In a two player game the only thing that matters is the result win/loss/tie, resignations are the same as any other loss. If you resign a three player game early then you receive an additional penalty to your rating.

(emphasis mine)

AFAIK, this is true for all resignations in games with more than 2 player, doesn't matter if you do it turn 1 or just seconds before the game would end anyway. But I guess Mic used this as a figure of speech.
