Trashing Champion causes the game to become stuck when being attacked

Normally, a Champion stays in play forever and protects its owner from attacks. With Procession and Bonfire it is however possible to successfully play Champion but still trash it from play.

In this case, if an opponent plays an attack, the game will become stuck. The game will be 'waiting for' the player that played the attack, but that player cannot do anything to advance the game. Examples are games #7798007 (Bonfire) and #7798494 (Procession). In both cases Lord Rattington is the player playing the attack.

It's notable that Hireling seems not be affected; if trashed with Bonfire, it will continue to give cards each turn (as it should be). Archive also seems to be fine; if it is trashed with Bonfire, it will give out the remaining cards under it as normal.
