Invest giving invester cards when they gain the card?

Game 40784038

Opponent invested in KC twice.

On his last turn, he gained a KC and got 2 cards from Invest because of it.  Why?

Hi Trumplestiltskin,

you misunderstand the log entry. Whenever a player (F in this case, standing for your opponent) buys Invest (in this case for King's Court), the log will say something like

F draws 2 cards when an opponent gains or invests in King's Court.

That's just the information for what the Invest did, it's not saying that F drew 2 cards right now, it's saying that F will draw 2 cards when the condition mentioned happens. If a player Invests in the same card again, the the number will go up, so it could be 4 or 6 cards mentioned in the message, so their opponent get alerted to what will happen if they buy/invest in that same card.

That actually happenend in turn 16 of your opponent, when they invested in their 3rd King's Court:

F buys Invest.
   F exiles a King's Court.
F draws 6 cards when an opponent gains or invests in King's Court.

If the Invest effect is actually drawing cards, it will look like this (your turn 18) in the opponent's log

T  buys and gains a King's Court.
F draws a Silver, a Noble Brigand, a Shepherd and a Sanctuary (Invest).
  F shuffles their deck.
  F draws a Silver (Invest).

F would have drawn 6 cards from Invest, but because the remaining deck and discard pile was only 5 cards, they drew only 5. Of course, from your side it looked like this

T buys and gains a King's Court.
  F draws 4 cards (Invest).
  F shuffles their deck.
  F draws a card (Invest).

So on their last turn, your opponent Invested in King's Court simply to empty the third pile (King's Court) for just the cost of 4. The game dutifully logged that they will now draw 2 cards whenever you buy or invest in a King's Court (your opponent did not draw any cards for that). Then when the turn ended, the game was over.

Thank you for the clarification.  I saw it in the log as the game was ending, and didn't comprehend it I suppose.
