Port + Black Market

Black Market says you may buy one of the cards, but when you use it to buy a Port it does not trigger the "when you buy this" action.

Thanks for the report, dmurvihill!

Well, if you buy a Port from the Black Market, where do you think the other Port is going to come from? There is no Port pile in the game, so while you are correct that the trigger formally happens, it cannot have any effect, so the game doesn't show it at all.

Similar effects happen for example with Wild Hunt/Farmers' Market, which cannot accumulate VP tokens on their pile when they come from the Black Market deck. So Wild Hunt is still good for drawing and maybe gaining an Estate when the game is real close, but Farmers' Market is only good for the +buy, it will never give you $ or VP tokens.

Ingix,
Good and clear explanation.  It certainly would not hurt if the game log were to somehow mention this explicitly. ("Second Port not given, as Port is not the the Supply Pile" or words to that effect.)

I agree that would sometimes be nice. Sometimes what's not happening is more important than what's happening (Why did my opponent not discard due to Milita? They had a Champion/Lighthouse in play, etc.)

But from the way it works, that will likely be done only in cases where many people are confused (Enchantress, Sewers/Priest).
