What is the ShuffleIT opinion about "open source" ?

Obviously, "open source" makes sense if main programmers keep control about evolutions.
Anyway, this collaborative way could be an option to implement and fix bugs more easily.

What did you think about that possibility ?

In general I like open source, but open sourcing the whole product isn't going to happen because that would effectively be giving it away for free, which we can't do.

Parts that could be open-sourced are things like the client-server communication protocol so that people can write their own client, and something like a log viewer.

There's a lot of work to do though and open-sourcing something for the sake of it has a very low priority. This shouldn't stop anyone with great ideas from contacting us, as I wouldn't mind sharing with a few dedicated people things that aren't quite ready for publication.
