General Discussion / Re: Rating not updating?

Yes, there was a problem this (Eurpean) morning. Stef says he fixed it a few minutes ago, so it should work now (probably after the next rated game you play).

Interface Issues / Re: Scheme 9 from Outer Space

I got the same bug. I played my Warrior with Way of the Frog to put it on my deck after discard.

At this time you played Warrior using Way of the Frog. During Cleanup, when you discard the Warrior, you now have the choice to either exchange it for a Hero, or topdeck deck Warrior for next turn.

Quote from: Wensey on 04 May 2020, 01:03:54 AMThen I was prompted to exchange Warrior for Hero (because "on discard" was trigerred).
But I'm also prompted to "Execute" my Scheme->Warrior combo?

Sure. Both effects trigger on discard and the game doesn't know which one you want.

Quote from: Wensey on 04 May 2020, 01:03:54 AM
I understand that Scheme and Way of the Frog are very similar if not identical (minus the card draw on Frog). But what's really odd is that when I went for the Exchange and also tried to Execute, nothing got executed -- my  warrior was Exchanged for a Hero and then wasn't on top of my deck

That's to be expected. While both effects trigger and will be executed, only one can actually succeed to do anything meaningful. If you topdeck the Warrior with Way of the Frog first, the exchange effect of Warrior cannot find the Warrior in the place it expects it to be (the discard pile), so does nothing. OTOH, if you exchange the Warrior for Hero first, the topdeck effect of Way of the Frog can't find the Warrior in the place it expects it to be (the discard pile), so does nothing.

Quote from: Wensey on 04 May 2020, 01:03:54 AM
This seems to be an actual bug. "Exchange" should mean "replace the other card exactly where it is", so Exchange should just swap my Frog'd Warrior for a Frog'd Hero that I can get on my deck next turn.

No. An exchange effect is not immune to the the "stop moving" rule. If it can't find the card it is supposed to exchange, it can't move it, and the special rules for "exchange" say that than the whole exchange effect is cancelled.

Instead my only options are to not upgrade the Warrior, or gain a Hero to my discard.
And of course, Scheme is not in the kingdom at all...

And that is exactly as it should be.

Card Bugs / Re: Duplicate and Will O Wisp
04 May 2020, 09:59:11 AM
It's not an unspoken rule, it's in the base game rulebook:

Quote"Gain a card" - Take a card from the Supply and put it into your discard pile.

Then follow some exceptions that an effect can explicitely tell you to gain a card from another place or not to your discard pile. But they don't apply to Duplicate.

Calling Duplicate on a Province is not legal (usually), as a Province doesn't cost up to $6 normally. Calling Duplicate on a Will-O'-Wisp, or even a Curse, is legal, and it has an effect: The Duplicate returns to play. Both are normally strategically bad decisions, of course.

The game, like many other games, doesn't prevent you from making strategically bad decisions. You can fold with a Royal Flush in hand, for example.

That being said, I agree with you that presenting the option to Duplicate cards like Will-O'-Wisp or Curse is very often not helpful. Calling the Duplicate back into your deck "for nothing" is rarely a reasonable move, so it isn't really done by those who know it doesn't give them another Will-O'-Wisp. For those that don't know or aren't sure, it's a temptation to do something that ultimately proves not helpful, as in your case. So I'd think this could warrant an autoplay.

The Groundskeeper reads in part:

While this is in play, when you gain a Victory card, +1VP.
[emphasis mine]

Due to the shapeshifter errata in September/Oktober 2019, Overlord (and similar cards) no longer "become" another card, they just play the other card, but leave it in the Supply:

Play a non-Command Action card from the Supply costing up to $5, leaving it there.
[emphasis mine]

Taking this together, this means that no Groundskeeper is in play in the scenario you described. That also means no Groundskeeper "gain VP" ability will trigger when a Vicory card is gained.

The shapeshifter errat made them worse with cards that have in-play effects, like Highway or Groundskeeper.

Can you describe in what situation that happens? Do you have a game number or know your opponent of that game?

I think (without wanting to look it up in each rulebook) that exception is spelled out for each card/effect that gives extra turns. The Menagerie rulebook for example says:

QuoteSeize the Day: The extra turn is like a normal turn, except that it does not count for the tiebreaker.

Card Bugs / Re: Tower miscounts split piles
03 May 2020, 01:10:04 PM
I'm assuming you talk about game 42954383. If you load it, you'll see that the points are counted correctly, they are just attributed to the name of the pile, which is the top card's name if it is a split pile.

You had 2 Encampments and 4 Plunders at the end, so the game lists and counts them as "6 Encampments" for you, when it should say "2 Encampments/4 Plunders".

General Discussion / Re: Looking for suggestions

Rated games come in 3 varieties: cards from base game only, cards from Silver sub only and cards from Gold sub (aka "all cards"). That's caused by the way the subscriptions work, whoever has the "highest" subscription among the participating players determines which of the 3 kinds of games will happen.

Familiar cards are meant as a way to familiarize players with cards they don't know yet from physical play (as you are doing). As such, they are not for competetive games (aka rated games).

Another reason is that respecting familiar cards on rated games would allow players to "cheat" by  declaring only very few cards as familiar, even down to just 10. That means they would play the same kingdom of 10 cards again and again. Guess who will win most of those games, that player who now plays it for the 10th time or their opponent, who sees it for the first time?

What you need to know is that rated games do not respect familiar cards. So as as soon as you play rated games and the other player is a Gold subscriber, you can potentially come up against any available card. If you want to have familiar cards respected, you need to play unrated games (including vs. a bot).
