Any suggestions for what to do if you haven't heard from your opponent? Mine wrote an initial message but I haven't heard back from my reply so we don't have timing yet. Would a reply be blocked if the settings are restricted?

Mine also says pending subscription and I have the free one year from membership to the old site. Does that count as a subscription?

It doesn't. You need to add on Empires by purchasing a Gold subscription.

Well that's pretty unfortunate that I'd have to pay the full 27 EUR when I'm only missing one game. Is that the only way to get it?

jsh is slightly incorrect, it will default to 365 days in the future, which should cost about 27 EUR for you. You're subscribed to everything but Empires, so a subscription to that should cost about 3€, and less than 2€ if you purchase that subscription only in the time of the tournament.

To do that, simply click on the calender that you'll find in the store tab.
