General Discussion / Journey Token

I get what they are trying to do with the journey token (Color = bonus, Gray = not bonus) but I think this is the opposite of what the card says. To me, colored is very clearly representing "token up" and gray "token down" so the current implementation is opposite to the card text. I get why they want to do it this way, but in my opinion that is trying to fix something with the game rather than implementing it online properly. Something just seems "wrong" about trying to do this fix. What they want is to change the way the journey token is implemented (have the flip happen after the card resolution rather than before). I get what you are saying, but it is the opposite of what the card says
If you want to do that, then you should change the card text
to flipping the token after resolving the action

What do others think? What does Donald X think? I think if they keep it this way, they should change the card text so that the flip happens after the card resolution and that the cards say that the token starts face down, otherwise revert back to how MF did it.

The tables are a bit of a mess. It is impossible to really find anything in there and I think there are some really easy ways to make this way better.


  • Sort tables - You should be able to sort by any of the column headers. Sometimes I want to kill a few minutes and watch a game, I would love to sort by spectators and watch whichever game has the most spectators. Sometimes I want to look at games that are "New", so you should be able to sort there. Sometimes I want to look for 3 player games, so I should be able to sort there.
  • Allow users to filter tables. Should be a way to only look at 3 player tables, only look at tables running. Only look at tables where your friends are in, etc.
  • In a similar vein there should be a way to look for a player who isn't your friend or you aren't following. Maybe there is a league match or something and I don't really know anyone in the match but I want to watch, I should be able to quickly find that match and watch it.
  • This one is my opinion, but I really think you should cut out ranges for number of players. Just make people choose the number of players. This will make it more clear for players to know if tables are looking for players and if starting a game will add bots or not. When you are in the table if all players are "ready" but there are still spaces left, there should be a button that says "fill the rest of the players with bots and start"
  • There needs to be a way to see everyone at the table without entering it. Something maybe with hovering your mouse over the table to see the list of players and spectators

I had my Sauna out and the autoplay was quite weird. In game 436 on frankfurt-test.

I had 3 golds and a silver and it played gold-gold-silver. Either it should play the silver first (I think this always makes sense to give you the most choice in what to trash) or it should make you play silver last. But having it play in the middle is quite strange.

Since this is the biggest part of the new release, I think it's good to start a thread on feedback on the new lobby.

Big improvement so far. What I like:

  • Friends list
  • Familiar Cards concept - could be really cool for beginners
  • Matching - not sure exactly how it's being implemented, but good that it's there

Areas needing improvement:

  • In the table view, there has to be a way to see who is in each game before entering as a player/spectator
  • When you leave a table as a spectator it brings you to the "new table" screen as opposed to the "tables" screen. I think this makes no sense and was annoying when trying to find a table I was looking for to spectate
  • When making a new table for 2, clicking "ready" before someone enters my table starts the game with a bot. This was super counter-intuitive for me. I think there should be a warning for this or a much clearer text. I may be "ready" but that doesn't mean I want to play a bot, that could mean I am "ready" to play whomever enters my table. A fix for this is to have the button say "Play a bot" while no one is at the table and switch to "ready" when a player enters your table. Not sure how to scale this up for 3+ player games but I am sure there is a better solution than now.
  • On that note, when I finish a game with someone and want to rematch and click "ready" the game doesn't start. They leave the table and the game still doesn't start. Then to start a game with a bot I have to unclick ready and reclick. This seems really clunky to me
  • The "need help" link is nice, but this should open in a new tab and not close out your current run of the game

Interface Issues / Enchantress Issues

When an opponent plays an enchantress there should be some kind of warning that the next action played will be nerfed. Also, when an enchantressed action is played, it should say so on the log. Seeing "L played Margrave, L draws 1 card" is really weird when reading back the log.

Card Bugs / Mystic shuffling my deck before naming

Subtle bug, in game #1645 on frankfurt-test2: Turn 9, I have a Mystic in my hand and then am at the end of my deck. When I play the Mystic, my deck gets shuffled before I name the card. I don't think the deck should be shuffled until after I name the card because I don't need to start looking through it until then.

Sorry didn't note the game, but I tried to undo from my black market play and then the black market cards disappeared and nothing was clickable. I tried to undo again to back out of it but couldn't click on anything.  /resign didn't work either, had to kick & resign to get out of it.

They are listed in the log, but I think one should be able to see them as well.

I hit undo and went to the part in the game where I could select a card to topdeck from harbinger looking through my discard. However, I cannot select any cards from my discard pile because that becomes invisible.

Spectator View is awesome. I remember starting to watch Twitch streams when I knew less about the cards and having to have the wiki open to read the card text any time I forgot and this makes that so much easier. Here are a few suggestions I have. Some of them may be WAY too difficult to implement and they should be pretty low on the priority list but I wanted to get my thoughts out before I forgot them.


  • Ability to switch between player perspectives. Not sure if it is better to do it the MF way where the player perspective changes each turn automatically or just have a switch that allows me to toggle, but you definitely can see the player's cards at the bottom better than at the top so it would be cool if I was watching Stef play against Lord Rattington to make sure I was watching Stef on the bottom.
  • Allow an audio feed of the players. I can imagine this is too tough to implement, but if you do it you have to have 2 options: Either the players can hear each other, or only the spectators can hear the players. If the latter you would need a switch to choose which player you want to hear since the players wouldn't know they are talking over each other. I'm imagining how cool it could be if you could do this while watching a game.
  • Let spectator mode stop my computer from going to screensaver. I was watching a game last night and the computer went to screensaver because I didn't move my mouse around. When watching video through a browser through youtube or something else, this is somehow prevented. Maybe have this as an option for the spectator.

Interface Issues / keyboard bug on ipad

Using an iPad 4th generation with Chrome. Was playing a game and used the command "/undo 2". In order to do this I have to type in the message window. On a tablet this causes the digital keyboard to pop up. However, once I hit return, the undo effect works just fine, but the keyboard disappears. If I click the button to drop the keyboard (lower right-hand most button on an ipad) then every time I click anywhere (not just in the message box) the keyboard pops up again. This stops happening once I click on the message box and then, click somewhere else. This only happens when I use /undo commands. It doesn't happen when sending other chat commands through the iPad.

Hope that was clear enough.

First requests after a couple games:

  • Endgame points tally - now you have three columns: Card, #, description. I think you can change "Card" to "Source" so it could include VP Tokens and Landmarks. VP tokens as a description seems awkward.

  • You lack a '1' in the stacks or piles of cards when only one is left. I have seen suggestions to fix this in supply piles, but I think it should be fixed everywhere. I don't see the down-side of having a '1' for cards in hand or for my decksize, so I would just keep the '1' everywhere.

  • I find MF's Pawn interface with checkboxes better than what you have. It takes less room to just have 4 choices to pick two from rather than a bunch of other choices.

  • "Profit" as a Miser description seems kind of unclear. +X Coin Symbol seems way clearer.

  • When implementing the undo thing, I think you should fade out everything except for the log and have to press cancel if you don't want to undo anything.

  • On the standard treasures/victory card supply piles you should include the symbol and amount in the middle of the card. Right now you have the amount and symbol on the lower right hand side of the card for victory points and nothing on the treasure cards.

  • Teacher tokens: I would put for +1coin and +1card I would use the little coin and card symbols. +1 Buy and Action can still just be +B and +A since there isn't really a symbol for that.

  • In spectator mode it says "waiting for player to play" I'm not sure that makes sense. We aren't really waiting if we are spectating. Maybe replace this with "Player's Turn" or something and when someone is reacting to an attack or something you can add "Player is reacting" When playing, "waiting" makes more sense since you are waiting before you can do something.

  • If you are going to move the supply cards down (I actually really prefer when they don't move, so I am using that setting) Then I think you should not make those cards upside down.

  • Need an option to turn off chat sounds.

  • Need to have the "big cards" view, where we can see the full kingdom and all the cards/events/landmarks (make split/mixed piles just a clickable single card) with their full texts. For players new to the game, this is essential.

  • I don't think I like the text "Autoplay Treasures" To me, autoplaying is like what SCSN's patch did. I understand "Play All Treasures" is misleading because it's not going to play Bank, Horn, etc. It seems clunky but maybe it's best to just have the button be "Play all Copper, Silver, Gold" and add Alt-Treasure to that list if it playing order makes no difference and remove "copper" if Grand Market is out and they can get to 6 without it. Not sure how long that list can get in the worst Black Market case.

  • To be honest, I don't think I like the ability to buy cards without having played your treasure cards. I think it doesn't add much and can mess people up when they have multiple buys and are used to buying cards this way.

  • 'Debt' button should be 'Pay off debt'

  • Wishing Well Stuff: I don't think the 'Plus' icon should be there when you make a wish. Use the white borders to make the cards clickable, but I think the 'Plus' should only be in there when clicking would result in gaining that card. Further, you have to animate the Wish

  • The autoplay trivial stuff should be optional. I think it can be very confusing for new players even to not have to click a copper when they play Moneylender.
