Here's another thought.
Everyone knows we want the log to go away.
If you could make one small change now, it would take away most of the pain. The change is to allow the log to be hidden, and just put a button in the corner which brings it up when you want to see it. Consider adding a new message counter to it that tells the player when someone has sent him a chat message. Other than that, we could get rid of that long almost entirely. Players like me who always use bots would never ever look at this log.
If you want to really hit it out of the park with a small change, consider putting two buttons. The second button would appear only when there is a question that you need to or have the option to answer. Have that button summon a window which shows you the questions and it would be much easier to see them and click on them. There is no reason why those questions need to be part of the log.
All of this, together with a bare-bones app which simply puts the current website full screen, would be the greatest gift to your users.
