I hope Darin will again post back here, with his experience at the other site.  A lot of us lost our "lifetime" subscriptions, and of course it would be great to be able to "reclaim" that status.  Hard to imagine that the other site will honor this, of course.  But . . . hey . . . can't hurt to try!   :)

Bug Reports / Re: Harvest doesn't "discard" Tunnel

1.  Interesting.  Should work, per the wording on the card.
2.  Don't forget to give us the game number, so we can see if we can replicate the issue/problem.

Support / Re: Making players resign

I suspect that the long (5 minutes, yes?) waiting period is to allow for the situations where a bad internet connection has forced you to log out.  Even if we accept that as an acceptable amount of time to have to wait...it seems like you could have a much shorter (maybe 1 minute?) wait time that would apply to situations where a player has not yet hit start, to begin the actual game.

Would not help you in a rage-quit game.  But would help you in cases where you match with someone and then they suddenly disappear.

General Discussion / Re: Chat accusation “BOT” ?
29 December 2021, 10:30:39 PM
When the person was commenting on your moves, did you take the few seconds to ever respond?  If you did, then the other person would know that they are not playing against a bot...although you might, of course, be using a bot to help you play, keep track of time, etc, as earlier posters have noted.

Sorry that you had to experience this sort of bad sport...but (based on other posts in this forum) it does seem to be happening much less frequently than in the past.  Hope that's true, anyway.  :-)

General Discussion / Re: Number of games etiquette

Easy answer.  There is a chat function that is available when you're playing a game.  When you match with someone, just take 15 seconds right away, to write something like, "Hi.  Letting you know that I have only 15 minutes to play.  So, probably only one or two games [or whatever you want to write] before I have to leave.  Good luck!  :)"

There is absolutely NO ONE who will take offense that this.  (We human beings are, of course, busy from time-to-time.  And we all understand that others get busy.)  And since you've written this in advance, NO ONE will suspect you of being a bad sport when you, in fact, do leave after you've played your game or two.  (Ending with another message in chat, like, "Good game(s).  Hope to play you again soon." will quickly give you the reputation as a good sport, a good guy/gal, and a fun opponent.)

Easy peasy.

Feature Requests / Re: Pause Player
09 December 2021, 10:55:02 PM
Hmmm...interesting point.  The difficulty would be, I think, that you want a one-hour break.  But I want an 8-hour break.  And Bob over there wants a 1-day/24-hour break.  So, it seems like a hard thing to program...to allow different people to "pause" someone for different lengths of time.  (Of course; having even one option would be better than the current situation--where, as you point out, there's no pause at all that's available.)

Support / super-slow website today
01 December 2021, 11:06:40 AM
It's early morning, Pacific Coast time.  On the gameplay website; Dominion game is allowing me to do one move every 10 seconds or so.  So, one full turn can take 7 minutes.  All other websites I tried at random are working normally.  Just this one is acting up.

Any other Dom. players also having this issue today, at Dom. website??

Card Bugs / Re: Lighthouse not working
29 November 2021, 10:24:10 PM
I am not sure of the answer.  Is it possible that Inheritance (and, therefore, your estate/Lighthouses) takes effect only on your turns?  And you are looking for an effect that comes into play only when it's your opponent's/opponents' turn(s).

If so, it would mean that you played your Estate/Lighthouse on your turn.  But, when your turn finished, your played, face-up, "Lighthouse" suddenly lost it's defensive ability (ie, it became an oddly-placed, face-up, Estate).  If my guess is correct; it seems a bit unfair.  But Dominion has many of these quirks--where the actual gameplay is a little counter-intuitive.

I'll be interested to hear from more experienced players...cuz it's possible that my guess is wildly wrong.  :-)

Don't forget to give us the game number.  If you still have it; please post again and give that critical information.  :-)

Generally speaking, at the start of the game (the first several rounds), is it better to use Amulet to gain those silvers (valuable for buying better cards earlier on), or to trash those useless Estates (thinner deck = more coins and other actions in each hand).  Obviously, certain decks will make this decision easy.  As is when you'd clearly use the +1 coin option instead, to buy that valuable card.  But I'm asking about what's better strategy in general, in the beginning stages of a given game...more useful coins in your deck, or fewer 'dead' cards in your deck?

General Discussion / fun combo: KC + Monument cards only
30 September 2021, 04:11:56 AM
Game: 8626 2763 Tokyo.  Playing with Lord Rat.

Board had Kings Court, Monument, and Donate.  I ignored everything except KC and Monument, plus enough coins to get me up to 7 fairly quickly.  Once I had 2 KC and 3 Monuments, I used Donate to trash all the other cards I had accumulated.  So, with KC, KC, Mon(x3) as my only 5 cards, I could play them all each turn, and get 18 coins and 9 VP from then on.  Never bought another card with the 18 coins, of course.  So, with this board, a foolproof and automatic 9 VP each turn.  (Would never have worked with handsize-reduction or curser attack cards in the kingdom, or without Donate in the kingdom.)

It was a fun board to play around with.  I'm sure I'll never see this kind of kingdom out in the real world, of course.

Buy why hate the sentry?  It's such a boring card.

(Now, don't get me started about Vault, Possession, et al.)   :(  :D

General Discussion / Re: 3 Pile Win

I'd also disagree with just that last piece of advice, Ingix.  I cover a portion of my computer monitor's screen, so that I can't see who is winning, or by how much.  (I do this, to train my brain to keep rough track, as practice for my IRL games.)  So, while I'd never stretch out a game where I'm comfortably ahead, just to torture my opponent; if I have 18 coins and 3 buys on the last turn, I might as well get into the habit of maximizing my points that turn, by buying the last Prov and 2 more Dutchies.  (Doing so, and making these "unnecessary" 2 last buys takes literally 10 extra seconds of play time.)

Ingix,
Can one go into settings and deselect (or blacklist, or exclude, or whatever it's called) any number of cards?  If there is no limit to the number of such cards, then it should be easy for this person to exclude everything that is not in the Base set, right?  (Although maybe a bit labor intensive.)  Or am I not understanding this aspect of adjustable settings? (I've never tried to "forbid" any cards, so I'm prepared to be totally wrong about this.)  But I thought that was the whole point of the "Familiar Cards" tab that's at the top of the first post-log-in screen, and I thought I remember even seeing a way to easily and quickly exclude entire expansion sets while doing this.

What a bizarre reaction to a 3-pile ending.  I mean, the game of Dominion ends in only a few specified ways, and 3-pile is one of those few.

In poker, you can win by (1) Having the best hand, OR, (2) by bluffing a player into folding, even though she had the better hand.  The reaction you encountered is as weird as if a poker player complained after being successfully bluffed.  The only correct reaction is, of course, to say, "Nicely played.  Wanna play another game???"      :)
