There is an official ruling for the possession-stalemate situation. The game continues until one player starves to death, the other player is declared winner.

Sounds good, doesnt work.
Stef already showed in another thread that none of the known slow-players are actually suscribing.

At higher levels and in complex kingdoms, 30 minutes or more for a game is not uncommon. Also, if someone just plays slow because he doesnt know all the cards, thats ok. You dont want to punish these two sorts of players.

The stalling slow-play you read about means, someone plays ONE Copper, waits three and a half minute, plays ONE Copper, waits three and a half minute .... the game can drag about hours.

I have read all the above. Your argumentation made me change my mind!

Quoteas if the cards all are supposed to work together.
Thats the beauty of this game  :)

Now, serious. I am very sure the kingdom cards are selected randomly, and the game is just balanced very well. Example: It does happen to me that a Kingdom has a Tunnel but no card to trigger it - things like this would not happen in a hand-selected or scripted kingdom.

On the other hand, all Village-Like cards combo very well with all Smithy-Like cards.

General Discussion / Re: Undoing

When my opponent does something which is obviously wrong, I ask them via chat if they want to undo it and silently count to 10 before I continue playing.
Examples*: Buy Familiar when curses are gone, buy an Estate after they already hit Wall, Counterfeit the Gold instead of the Spoils .....
I play to win, and I want to win. But I want to feel that I won because of my better play, not because of a misclick or even a distracted click my opponent made.

*they all have edge cases. but thats not the point here

QuoteWhat, is there a time when I don't want my opponent to have their -1 card token?
Yes of course! Possession, for example. Or, I have KC-KC-Sheme-Graverobber-Pillage running while you have 7 bridges on your Mat but only one Native Village left in your deck.
Dominon lives by its edge cases.

Not a bug.

QuoteTrash a card from your hand. Gain 2 cards each costing less than it.
When you buy this, you may overpay for it. If you do, gain 2 Actions each costing the amount you overpaid.

You may not gain VP cards* when you overpay-buy Stonemanson because they are not action cards. You may gain any card when you trash with stonemanson. The 2nd sentence does not exclude VP Cards in any word. A province does cost less than a platin, everything is fine here.

*Edgecase: you may take a Mill with Stonemanson, because its also an action card.

You have to manually turn your coins into virtual money first. There is a scoll-bar and a button right under or above the "pay debt".

It does.
It just does it super fast. You are shown the 2nd-to-last card, the game recognices there is no choice for you to make (put it on top or bottom is the same) and speeds things up by making that choice for you.
In the log file, you can see what happend.

Here. I did a quick bot game:
Turn 8 - WhiteRabbit1981
W plays a Pearl Diver.
W draws a Pearl Diver.
W looks at a Chapel.

The last card in my deck was a chapel.

It is in the rules that the loosing player goes first in the next game. This rule is surely intended for real-life use, but its a nice detail if online dominion follows it.

game #4240905 on frankfurt
Turn 14 - touchit
[...]
t plays a Swindler.
W trashes a Duchy.
W gains an Inn.
W looks at 2 Curses, a Copper, 2 Plazas, a Silver, a Prince, 2 Inns, 2 Provinces, a Fortress, a Fortune Teller, 3 Duchies, 3 Swindlers and 2 Pearl Divers.
[...]

I am W.
T plays a swindler in his turn and hits one of my duchys. He chooses to replace it with an "Inn". When I gain an Inn, the on-gain effect triggers and a popop with my discard file appears. I do NOT get any buttons, nor a chance to choose any actions. After a few sec, the popup disappears and the game continues.

As I did not manage to hit a 5-card of T with my swindler, I cannot confirm how it looks on the other side. My guess is that T got the buttons to decide about my actions.

My understanding of the rules is that the "on gain" effect doesnt care about which players turn it is - if i gain an "ill gotten gains" due to a swindler, I distribute curses in my opponents turn. So with "Inn", I should be able to choose my action cards to be reshuffled.

About sounding selfish: That was intended. I did even put "me" in bold letters  8)

Stef, why make it that complex? There is already a point "banned cards" in the table. Just make an "add card" button there. That way, if I enter a table and see possession is banned, I can just leave - or vice versa.
Of course that would not work with automatch, but only with new tables. Imho thats a good compromise between the "whole game or nothing" and the "only fun cards" players.

I see the point that you should not force ppl to play scrabble if they dont like the game. But then, when two ppl commit to have fun with a game together they can as good stay in the rules of the game. One example, and that did seriously happen to me: One of my opponents got really pissed at me when I played a swindler and changed one of his coppers into a curse. I explained him in the chat that this was totally in the rules and is the intention of the swindler card. He got even more angry and explained me in all seriousness that I did not understand the social aspect of playing together and having fun together, that giving out curses with any card other than a witch is totally anti-social and that I did not get the true meaning of the swindler card.
This mindset given, do we need an option "allow swindled curses yes/no" ? Donald, how many ppl have to ask about that option before you consider it?

I understood that i can only be matched against players who have the same "dislikes" as i have. Of curse it makes more sense if possession would just not appear in the kingdom, i got that wrong.

I still love possession games, so thanks a lot that you made that card. I even liked it more in its 1st Edition style because of some interesting variants with VP-point gainers (you triple posses me? play all my bishops-fortresses). Then again, i just had a really great game with possession and capital where not paying back debt protected from successfull possessions.
Cutting out that special card everyone else hates would indeed make the game less enjoyable for me, because i would miss those strange interactive plays. And thats the reason i dont want a card-ban system and vote against it.

I understand noone should be forced to play something they dont like. If a game starts and pre-turn 1 my opponent chats something like "lets ban rebuild to avoid the mirror and have a more interesting game", i always agree. Of course, if i chat "lets ignore TAX and Wolf Den" it wouldnt affect the game too much  :o

In RL-games, we like to ban "shuffle-heavy" cards like Hunting Party or Scrying Pool. In online games, i would rather ban click-heavy spam cards like Moat in a Minion game.
