Lord Rattington freezes with Capital

I gave Lord Rattington a Capital with masquerade on his turn. He bought enough with it to take debt then froze.
This seems to be a common issue where Lord Rattington can't handle debt?

Yes. The problem is I think that it doesn't understand the (newish) prompts to pay back debt.
