Time-out when playing games - terrible implementation!

This forced white flag when time runs out has got to be the dumbest idea ever implemented.  The UI for Dominion online already is quite bad, and this is really the last straw.  It is no longer fun to play.  I've been forced to resign simply while reading the kingdom cards (not slowly mind you) at the beginning of the game.  It's fun to build and play a strategy rather than just rabbit brain playing as fast as possible.

Tonight, I have Amulet and Receive Tribute in the game.  I play an Amulet, buy 2 other cards, and then am trying to Receive Tribute but the dumb interface won't let me pick cards.  I'm chatting with my opponent and we are discussing but the timer zooms to 0 and game over.  No option for the opponent and I to agree to pause the timer while we troubleshoot the dumb interface and no option for my opponent to cancel the forced white flag.  Just a dumb interface all around.

This has happened many times over my last few sessions.  Terrible experience, repeatedly.

Major thumbs down.  I miss isotropic!

Hi mrkingpants,

We are thinking about an option to mutually stop the timer, which is something that would have saved you in those cases.

I saw that your recent rated games where all in the friendly speed, which is only the second slowest speed available. If you prefer a slower speed, then you can disable Friendly and just play Patient. It will also ask your opponent(s) to confirm the white flag, as has happened before.

Those boxes around the speeds are toggles, if you click one of them it changes from enabled to disabled  and vice versa. So, assuming your setting is still in the default configuration that allows Patient and Friendly, clicking on the Friendly button will disable it and the above shown configuration will emerge.

What the game shows me on replay is that you gained a Silver with the Amulet, played your Tresures, bought a Walled Village and had $3 left. You did not gain any other cards that turn. Sometimes the last thing a player does before the game end is not recorded, so maybe you bought another card just before the timeout. But I fail to see how the game would allow you to buy Receive Tribute in that case, with you having max $3 at this point.

Could it be that you bought the Receive Tribute immediately after playing your Treasures, when you had $7? Then discussed it, did an undo, bought the Walled Willage but the time was already running out at that point?

I'm sorry that you got hit by a timeout several times in a row, I hope the friendly speed will help you in that regard.
