Day two of the Seaside 2e previews.
In a preview game today you get one of {Sea Witch, Sea Chart, Tide Pools}, one of {Blockade, Astrolabe, Monkey} and one random old Seaside card.

also some bugfixes:
- it was possible to play non-actions using ways in some circumstances (Courier, Specialist, Nights)
- Warlord attack prevented using autoplay treasures
- Fellowship of Scribes interacted badly with some cards that allowed you to shrink your handsize with a "delayed action", meaning Artificer, Hamlet and some more obscure combination of cards.
- it was possible to get previewed cards in your kingdom twice if you enabled previews and hand-picked them at the same time.

This is the first of 3 releases that feature the Seaside 2nd Edition previews.
The preview queue is back, also for non-subscribers, and today it lets you play with 1 new seaside card, 2 old seaside cards and the rest random from all your cards.

Unlike all previous previews, people with subscriptions immediately own the new cards in the game. So you can access those cards and add them to your games in the regular way immediately.

Today 2 cards got removed (Embargo, Ghost Ship) but they're not completely deleted. I've moved them over to a 'fake expansion' called Deprecated. This expansion will grow over time, right now it has only 2 cards. Cards from the Deprecated expansion will never show up at random in any of your games, but you can still hand-pick them.

- some fixes with extra allies
  - automatch: If both players force yes, and neither has a Subscription, they don't match at all. (used to get matched but then unable to start a game).
  - manual table: specifying both allies cards and "extra allies" option wont create duplicates anymore
  - automatch: if both players have "yes and no" to extra allies, the match will now do "yes" (think it was random)
- barbarian in 3+ player games was broken
- preselected young witch with preselected bane-candidates could lead to double kingdom cards, much like the "extra allies" problem mentioned above

- the ratings weren't live updating since the AWS problems this afternoon, but now that should all be working again. No rating results were lost.

For the "Core" card subscription, it states "easier" cards. Does this mean it will no longer be by set as it was previously?

Will it be something like cards rated level 1 through some level and from all sets?

yes, exactly that. On the automatch screen there is a button "View Card Pools" that explains it further.

In case you missed it, this week the upcoming expansion Allies is being previewed. You can find the previews explaining the cards here:

You will have an option for automatch called Previews. This lets you play with the previewed cards, but games with previews are forced to be unrated. Turn off the previews option if you want things to go back to normal.

Ah, so I just turn off "previews".  Thanks so much.  I have just upgraded from silver to gold, so that's 7 or 8 expansions to get under my belt.  I have seen notices of a new expansion, but just ignore them as at this point it's of no interest to me.  I have an abundance of new cards to learn already.

I'm not sure though why this new preview was not properly integrated into the "Levels" feature?  If I play at level 4 and previews is set on, should I not see only cards in the new expansion that are level 4 or lower?  I realize this is a question for the developer and not for you particularly. Thanks again for the info.

It will be integrated once the Allies expansion is actually released (which will be next Wednesday).
Previews have rules of their own.

In your 3rd landscape slot you require an Ally and nothing but an Ally, but you don't have any of those (Allies isn't released yet, and you have the previews disabled). That combination means the kingdom generator is looking for a card it can't find.

it was a clear oversight that I put these rules ("preview games can't be rated") in the server, but not in the client. It confused a lot of people, but I hope the release from ~10 min ago fixed that.

Unfortunately, the Familiar Cards concept was not useful for the majority of players and has been completely removed. The supposed way to learn cards is restricting them by level now. If you are using automatch, then it will most likely stay at 5 banned + 5 disliked cards.

Enough people are troubled by this change though, and it's become quite likely there will be another change in the next week or so to mitigate this. I don't know exactly how yet.

A few days before the transition to the new UI, I paid for a Silver subscription. However, ever since the interface change, I have to "wait for expansions" even though the text right below it says "your subscription is active for another 21 days." It has made the wait time for an expansion game take 10 minutes, which shouldn't be the case since I paid for the subscription...can I either get a refund or get the issue fixed?

We created 10 card pool levels.
Playing with level 1 (the base game) is for free.
A Core Subscription allows you to play with levels 1-5.
A Complete Subscription allows you to play with levels 1-10.
If you have a subscription, you can invite non-subscribers to play with your cards.

Complete subscription

• gives access to all cards
• costs 13.0 cents /day (which is ≈€4.10 /month or €49.20 /year)
• for Americans: that is ≈$4.48 /month or $53.80 /year

Core subscription

• gives access to the simpler half of the cards
• costs exactly 6.5 cents /day, which is ≈€2.05 /month or €24.60 /year
  
• for Americans: that is about $2.25 / $26.90

Future expansions will also be added to levels 1-10 when they get released, and your subscription will automatically include them.
Subscriptions always start when you buy it, and you can select your own duration.
The minimum duration is one month, and subscriptions do not auto-renew themselves.

Buying for a longer period will get you a discount
