Like, it would count as being in your deck if the game ended right then, which is impossible.

But the card is not on my deck, it's in my left hand and I'm revealing it. While I'm deciding what to do with that card, often times I want to know how many cards are in my deck, and it's important for that number to be accurate.

At the very least, it needs to be consistent with other cards like Apothecary, Patrol, etc. which report cards in reveal-land as not being on the deck.

I play an Ironmonger, I draw one card. I have one card left in my deck to reveal. I look at that card, and while I'm looking at that card in the reveal window, the display still shows my deck as having one card in it, even though it's empty.

I haven't tested it for other cases (maybe this only happens when there is one card left in deck or something), but in this case, my deck should show that it's empty since the card in my reveal-area is not in my deck or discard or anything.

When I log in, it shows me players whose activity is "disconnected" on my list. Those players should just not show up on the list.

It would be nice if I could spectate a game or mess with options or something while I was waiting for someone to be automatched with.

Game Log Issues / Token Limbo
05 February 2017, 12:13:30 AM
When a -1 Card token is removed, the game log says that the -1 Card token goes to "Token Limbo". I was really confused by this.

While it's not wrong to say this, there's no reason to introduce the term "token limbo" when it doesn't need to be there. Just say the token was removed from the deck.

When I hover over my name to see the duration area, there is no way for me to see what cards are being set aside with Haven, Archive, etc. (other than to try and find it in the game log). It would be nice if those cards were displayed here somehow.

Card Bugs / Overpay with Stonemason
05 February 2017, 12:08:10 AM
Currently there is no way for me to overpay when buying Stonemason such that I can't legally gain any cards. I realize this is similar to the Butcher thing I mentioned a while ago (so you probably won't end up doing anything about it) but I decided to report it anyways.

Then someone in the chat constructed the scenario where you want to buy a Villa after your Stonemason purchase, then play a Storyteller for fewer cards so you don't trigger a shuffle, so yeah I guess there's actually case where you would want this, as opposed to Butcher where that's not really a thing.

Feature Requests / Re: Music and Sound

Sometimes I am reading my new hand and the bot takes a quick turn and I miss out on what they gained during the buy phase. I know I can read it in the side bar.

Adding in more relevant animations like this is currently on the list of priorities for the devs. The game currently relies way too much on the game log and one of the many consequences of that is that it's really hard to tell what's going on during your opponent's turn.

The answer would be for any cards gained on your opponents' turns to dance in front of you as they are gained, that would solve your issues, but would cover the cases when the opponent isn't gaining just Gold and Province on their turn.

...who knows when they will get to it, though. I think it's pretty far down on the list (number 6 here http://forum.shuffleit.nl/index.php?topic=512.0 -- and they haven't shown any demonstrable progress on number one, even though it's been two months since this list was posted), so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'll further note that it's much easier to spectate/watch streams or videos when the point counter is activated.

Yeah I agree with this, it's the reason I play with the VP counter on when I stream even though I'd really rather not use it.

...btw, I feel like VP counter should always be visible to spectators, regardless of preferences, yeah?
#445
I suspect it's the default because the developers prefer to play games with VP counter enabled.

But it shouldn't be the default, and it should be only allowed when all players agree to it. It's a variant -- and whether it should be implemented at all is pretty questionable. And for sure it should always be disabled in Masquerade games with more than two players regardless of player preferences.

Unfortunately, even though there is a FAQ, it's unofficial. We haven't heard anything from the devs about this, so who knows what they're going to do and when especially since updates are getting less frequent and the devs seem to be opposed to doing any communication at all with their customers.

Card Bugs / Re: Overlord/BoM/trash

I feel like this restriction was already there, since it becomes much easier to generate infinite money and buys when you do this.

Think of all the times we have to correct people on the rules when they think they have broken Dominion with an infinite Festival/Smithy loop, when they just put their Actions in the discard pile when they are played.

Aren't there already restrictions on usernames to prevent trolling? I feel like if you just use those, then cap the length at something, this should work just fine.

...but now that you mention it, it would be nice if the log displayed "You" for your own stuff, and of course that and its variants would be reserved so nobody could pick them. It would make the log much more readable.

So then someone uses "   " as the abbreviation for their username.  Or they choose something less ridiculous but equally discordant with their username, like if I chose "DUDE" as my preferred abbreviation.

Of course, the software can override my choices in the case of conflicts, but this would be a neat feature to have that I think would be very popular.

So of course ridiculous things shouldn't be allowed, like I said.

It would be really great if we were able to specify an abbreviated form of our username to put here. I don't mind "A", but I think I'd prefer "Adam" over "Ad" or whatever else I might get. I also don't think these should be case-sensitive.

I've touched on this issue here and in some other places too. I think the guideline is to have the most common case be the most intuitive, so for Sauna I think I should have to opt-in to the trashing (most of the time when I play a Silver I just get $2 so Sauna-trashing is weird). For Counterfeit I should have to opt-out for the trashing (most of the time when I play a Counterfeit I'm trashing a card so declining that is weird). For Hamlet, it's a little closer but after a few thousand games I am inclined to say that opting in to discard abilities is the way to go.

Unfortunately, regardless of what is chosen, there's no way around the fact that you'll have to be stopped in the middle of Counterfeiting your Silver to say yes or no to trashing a card. Normally, if you decline to trash something because you played a Silver, just clicking on the next thing you want to do is the signal that you don't want to trash. Unfortunately, when you're playing a Silver twice, there's no need to wait for user input to play Silver the second time, so it needs to explicily ask you if you wanted to trash something to the first Silver before playing Silver the second time. That interface will always have to be awkward, but luckily it shouldn't come up all that often.
