[I hope this is in the correct forum.  I don't see a forum for general questions about cards or card interactions...only about card bugs.]

Situation One.  You have a Ghost and one Treasure Map.  When you play Ghost, it happens to pick TM and puts it aside for the next turn.  On this next turn, it is played twice.  My question:  do you gain all the Golds?  I am guessing not, since the second TM was not played from your hand.  But does anyone have actual knowledge of this?

Situation Two.  You have two TMs total.  You play Ghost and it selects TM and sets it aside.  Next hand, you happen to get the second TM in your hand.  What happens now?  Do you get one set of the 4 golds?  Or, since you were forced to play the ghosted TM twice, does that somehow "cancel" out its effect and you're screwed?  Or do you get **8 gold**...that is, when you trash the in-hand TM, do you get 4 gold for each time your out-of-hand, ghosted TM got played?

Situation Three.  You have 3 TM.  One is set aside, as before due to Ghost.  But now you have two other TM in your hand.  What happens on your next turn?  Are both in-hand TM automatically trashed, and if so, do you get 4 gold or 8 gold?  If only one TM in hand is trashed, what happens if you--later on that same turn--use (let's say) Chapel to trash the remaining TM?  Nothing on the card says that you need to simultaneously trash two TM to get the gold, so that suggests it only needs to be done on the same turn.  But on the other hand; the card's info *could* have said "during the same turn" and doesn't, so maybe that suggests it DOES need to be done one-right-after-the-other.

I'm getting more confused the more I think about this.  ::)

AI bugs / Throne Room (or Kings Court) + wish
21 November 2017, 07:51:20 PM
Game: 8921806

I played TR and Wish.  But got only one replacement card, instead of two cards.  Was this due to the fact that wish goes back into the supply (or pile of unused/returned Wishes) and therefore could not be 'found' for the second playing via TR?  Or, was it a true bug?

There are, by now--with so many expansions, a good number of cards that do not play nicely with KC and TR.  And other cards that are wasted if used as a duration card, and so on.  It would be great to have a pop-up window that shows up when a player tries these types of combos.  [e.g., for my attempt of TR + Wish: "Throne Room will have no effect on the card [wish].  Do you want to (a) Undo and select a different card, or (b) Continue with this combo]?"  I have no idea if this would be easy to code, if it would be doable, but a bit of a pain, or, if it would be horribly complicated and intrusive to code.

I suspect that there will be future Dominion expansions, ever-more-complicated and nuanced cards, and so "interesting" interactions will happen more and more frequently.

If I am playing Lord Rat, then I don't really care if somethings happens that I did not expect from a card's wording...even if that confusion is what lost the game for me.  But it matters more in real-life games, since the only solution is to tell the other player in Chat, "Um, I thought this combo would be allowed, but Dominion says No.  Can I undo and try a different card combo that actually will be allowed?"

I would bet that if you threw this question open to players (ie, "What card combos do not work as you expect from the card's wording?  What popup warning/instruction would be helpful to have in that specific case(s)"; you'd get a fairly accurate and extensive list pretty quickly.)

1. Travelers.  Can, say, Disciple or Teacher show up in Black Market, even if none of the "earlier" cards in that line are in BM?

2.  Split Piles.  Can the "hidden, lower" cards show up in BM, even if the 'top' cards do not show up.
#84
If, say, Peasant is in the Black Market supply . . . if I buy it, use it, and try to "upgrade" in the normal way with Travelers, can I do this?  Or will I be unable to, due to the other cards in that "line" not being in the deck?

If I cannot do this, will the game not even give me the option--upon discard of Peasant--of discarding for a Soldier?  (That would make the most sense, if it's true that one cannot upgrade a BM Traveler.)  Or, if I am given the option, does the game give me a warning: "Hey, you're trying to exchange for a card that [in this particular game] does not exist.  If you get rid of Peasant, you will get nothing in return."

This is sort of an edge-case, I guess.  But if Black Market decks are truly random, then there should be a decent number of Travelers that show up merely due to chance, yes?  So, maybe not so edge, after all.

AI bugs / Disciple + Fugitive
01 November 2017, 07:33:31 AM
Game 8293139, Turn 13

I played Disciple and then Fugitive.  Game played Fug. twice, as expected.  But according to the game log, I never gained the extra copy of Fugitive.

Bug?  Some other reason why I did not get that 3rd Fugitive?

AI bugs / Is Ghost selection (of Action card) random??
25 October 2017, 09:40:17 PM
Game: 8083775

Played a game with Lord Rat.  The first time I played Ghost, it selected Fool, which was--by this time--worthless.  Okay, there were about 6 action cards in my deck at that time, so there was a one in six chance of that happening.

But, second time I played Ghost, it also selected Fool.  That's a 1-in-36 chance, if random.  The third time I played Ghost, it again selected Fool.  That is more than 200:1 against happening by chance (216 to 1, to be exact).  [Game ended before being able to play Ghost a 4th time.)

Am I misunderstanding how Ghost plays?  Is the rule:  Once a card is randomly selected on the first play of Ghost, that same card will always be selected in subsequent Ghost plays?  If so, what happens if the "selected" card, later, is trashed?  (As I--vainly--tried to do in my game, once Fool came up the first time.)

Or was this just a really really (really really really) random game?

Or . . . some other explanation I'm not thinking of?  :-)

AI bugs / error message at end of Nocturne game
25 October 2017, 09:35:52 AM
Was testing out the new cards in a game with Lord Rat.

Game ended with me having 12 or 13 coins.  Got the last Prov, and I bought a Cemetery with the remainder.  This caused the game to hiccup.  Screen went black and I got a popup box saying, "Your client is too old.  Please Ctr/Cmd-reload the page . . ."

This was about the 4th straight game I had played.  So, no reason why I would suddenly get a "too old" message; I just feel it has something to do with buying a Cemetery last, or, buying a Cemetery after the last Prov.

Is this a known bug?  (Unfortunately, I don't bother to write down--in advance--the ID numbers for 'bot games.)

One of the new cards is Shepherd.  It gives straightforward information about what it does.

But at the bottom it also says "(Heirloom: Pasture)"

What does this mean???

I've noticed, yesterday, that at least one or two other Nocturne cards have the same or similar parenthetical information.  So, information on all of these would be helpful.  :-)

Right now, it's a complicated series of steps to play a game that includes the Nocturne cards.

What I am doing:
1.  At matching page, click on "Nocturne Preview," to select this option.  Then click on bot game.  Game will start with Lord Rat, of course.  But no Nocturne cards are ever included at this point.
2.  Immediately resign.
3.  Resignation takes you to the start page (ie, if you hit Ready, you'll start a new game with Lord Rat.)  On this page, on the left side, is the message: "Nocturne Preview: False"
4.  Click on "Edit Table"
5.  At new page; click on "Advanced Options"
6.  Again click on Nocturne Preview, to select it.
7.  Click on "Ready"

This takes you to a bot game, and there now will be Nocturne cards.  But there really should be an easier way, right??   :(

I have received messages from other players.  When I click on "Reply," I get a place to type a message, of course; and there is also--above that--a blank "To" box.  But when I to into that box and type in a person's username, the box remains blank and now their name appears right below the blank box in a hotlink. (???)

When I type out a message and then click on send, I get a notice that the message was successfully sent.  But nothing shows up in my "sent" folder.  Since I have the responsibility to get in touch with my next opponent in the tournament, how do I ensure that my messages are, in fact, being sent?

Is this system bug unique to me?  Or, a known problem?

Would it be difficult to code this?  So, at my version of my home page, there would be a button "My recent games."
By clicking on that, I would get a list of the recent games.  5 most recent, 10 most, or even more??  Ideally, they would even be hot links, where a click could bring me (or another player) directly to that particular game.

I've noticed that, a few times, when I give the game's ID number in a post, I've later been told that this number did not work.  Likely a result of me incorrectly writing down that number.  :-)

In addition to this; having a short list would make it easy in situations where you ask for help, and someone writes in to say, "Try clicking on X on Turn __."  Or something like that.  Would make it much easier to retrieve past games.

Game 5593594.

Bought Pirate Ship.
Each time I play it, the game log shows it being played, but never shows any "reaction" from opponent.  The log should show what coin was revealed by opponent, or "opponent reveals Dutchy and Militia" (etc), or, 'opponent reveals and defends with Moat' or something along those lines.

But the game log showed nothing.  Never any response from Lord Rat at all.  My turn just continued.  Tried this on turns 6, 7, 8, and 9.  Then, I gave up and just Upgraded the PS to a 5 card.

In real games, PS is a card I almost never play.  So, I am unsure of how PS is working in actual games.  Hopefully, this is a bug limited to Lord Rat games, or to this particular game.

[hope this is the correct forum.  it's not a bug, and not a general 'how to play' question]  :-)

With Ghost Ship, I have to select 2 cards from my hand and place them on the top of my deck.  But how do I arrange the order?  This is often a critical decision (eg, any time I still have a village in my remaining hand, where I have to have one of the two 'removed' cards on the very top)

In real life, this is obviously no problem.  But on the computer, I need a "select order" like there is for so many other cards (eg, Sentry).  Since there is no such screen, what is the 'hack' for selecting the order?  Is the first card I click on going on the very top?  The second card I click on?  Or is it randomized by the computer, so my click order is irrelevant????

(p.s.  This would also be an issue for all the other times cards are discarded normally, IF there happens to be Pearl Diver in the deck)

Game: 5197937

1a.  I guess actions played via Hiring do not count towards the 3 (incl Consp) each turn, right?  Due to Hirling staying in play??  (although this seems to violate the Consp. card, which only says that you get the bonus, as long as at least 2 others are in play beforehand).  Whatever.
1b.  Regardless, after all my Hirlings were "played," I played two additional actions from my hand.  Apprentice and Hamlet.  But even with this, when I next played Consp, I did not get the coins or the extra action.  I had to ask for an Undo and play an additional Hamlet.  So, it worked as long as I played *3* actions before playing Consp.

2.  In the same game, in a longish turn, after playing my final action of Smuggler (and getting the smuggled card), the game tried to end my turn.  I had one coin on the board, and have 5 or 6 others in my deck.  But no "autoplay" button, and no way to click on any of my coins.  I had to again for another Undo, and that fixed the bug.  Weird.

AI bugs / Cannot Mint a Spoils
29 June 2017, 07:24:56 PM
I rarely see Bandit Camp in real-life games, so I do not know if this is a bug, or if there is some rule that makes it impossible to Mint a Spoils.  The game did allow me to Mint a silver, so it's a specific bug, and not a global inability to use Mint.

My presumption has been that Mint can be used to gain a copy of any treasure (assuming that there's one left in the supply, natch).  And this could include any "combo" card that had Treasure as a component...although I see Mint so rarely that I've never been able to test this.

Game 4033257.

Turn 6.  Played PD. Got card + action as normal, but saw no option to put bottom card onto top of deck.  Game log shows that I received a copper and that I looked at Potion (ie, the bottom card on my deck).  But NO window giving me the choice as to topdeck or not.

Later, on Turn 9 (and other turns after that), the game DID work properly, and there was a pop-up window, asking me if I wanted to topdeck or not.

No idea why it would not work on the first [applicable] turn of the game, but would work properly after that.

Support / Overlord: worth the price??
01 May 2017, 09:16:11 AM
In advance, I understand that the baseline answer is:  "It depends on the deck."  I get that, of course.  :)

But, as far as I can tell, it's essentially a Band of Misfits, but able to emulate a 5 card, instead of only a 4 or lower card, right?  Some other advantages I am missing?

I almost never have 8 coins in the beginning of a game, although it does happen with the right deck from time-to-time.  One hopes there's a King's Court on the table, or another great 6 or 7 card available.  But if not, we all would likely buy a Gold, since we don't want to clog our deck early on with green.  And at the endgame, we are all buying a Prov almost all the time we have 8 coins.  So, we're talking about a fairly narrow midgame range, where buying an Overlord makes sense.

Or, is it especially valuable since it's a Debt card, and can be bought on the very first turn of the game, as opposed to regular cards that require actual coins in hand?

As you more-experienced players have been seeing this card in your games; is it a must-buy most of the time?  An almost-never buy most of the time?  What sort of decks does it work well with?  (Duh; where there are a few great 5 cards, I'm guessing, right?)  :)

AI bugs / Bot will not even start the game
25 April 2017, 02:39:54 AM
# 3072666, on Tokyo.

Lord Rat went first.  But, never moved at all.  Have computers become so smart that they now engage in intentional slow-play?  ;D

Obviously, a bug.  Hopefully contained to that one game.

At least one or two people have mentioned this, but (as far as I can tell) always mixed into a post that covers other topics.

Some turns take a really long time.  Long engines, engines that requires the player to make decisions along the way (eg, with Hamlet, to discard one card? two cards? for action and/or buy).  So, I think A LOT of us multitask as this goes on.  We do work on another window.  We turn on the TV.  We open a good book.

Of course, this means that we don't immediately notice when it is our turn, which is rude to the other player.  A small chime would be great.  The same--or different--sound when it's Player One's turn but the other player(s) need to do something (discard down to 3 with Milita; select a card to pass for Masq., etc), for the same reason.

Should be really easy to implement, no?

Card Bugs / Vassal does not work
23 March 2017, 12:32:45 AM
My understanding of Vassal.
You get 2 coins.  Top card is examined (online, automatically by the software).  Next, it's automatically discarded.  But, if it happens to be an action card, we are supposed to have the option to play it.

But this is not working.  I played a 'bot game. (212414)  My first game with Vassal.  So, I bought Vassal just to try it out.  Played it.  Log showed, "Hunting Party discarded by [me]."  But no way--that I could see--for me to choose to play it.

This also happened later, with the game discarding my Hamlet...again, I saw no way to play the Hamlet.

In my opinion, the interface should be some pop-up message, "Vassal has uncovered Militia [or whatever action card].  Do you wish to play it? Yes/No"
